Hollywood is at a standstill. The ongoing writer’s strike has already affected major productions and halted many. The beginning of the SAG-AFTRA Strike is leading to the crumbling of the entertainment industry. Actors are preparing to join writers on the picket line. Almost all industry production will halt as a result of this strike action. Fans have been worried about their favorite shows.

However, to some fans’ relief, certain productions have finished filming ahead of time, avoiding any delays. The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power is among those shows that have escaped the looming effect of the Hollywood strikes.

The Rings of Power is a popular show on Amazon Prime that debuted last year. It is based on the novel by J.R.R. Tolkien. The fantasy show is a prequel to The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings series.

According to Variety, The Rings of Power has wrapped the filming of its second season. The series completed filming for its second season weeks before the SAG-AFTRA strike began, joining the Writers Guild of America in a historic dual strike.

The Rings of Power, created by J.D. Payne and Patrick McKay, entered into production last year, giving the impression that the second season won’t be postponed. The second season of the fantasy series is supposed to be aired sometime in 2024, although the release date is not yet announced officially.

For those who love the show and long for Middle Earth, the revelation has brought relief.

The Rings of Power has proven to be a pretty expensive investment for Amazon. The fantasy series inspired by J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Lord of the Rings books premiered last year in September on Amazon Prime. The series is set during the Second Age of Middle Earth, and the major events captured are the rise of Dark Lord Sauron and the creation of the actual Rings of Power.

The show broke shattering records for the streaming platform with a startling 25 million people watching the first two episodes worldwide within the first 24 hours of release. While it eventually became the most-watched series on Prime Video, the response waned towards the conclusion of the season. However, the show has already mapped out five seasons.

The cast of the series has Morfydd Clark as Galadriel, Ismael Cruz Cordova as Arondir, Charlie Vickers as Halbrand, Cynthia Addai-Robinson as Queen Regent Míriel, Lloyd Owen as Captain Elendil, Alex Tarrant as Valandil, and many other stars like Dylan Smith, Lenny Henry, Geoff Morrell, and Megan Richards.

The Rings of Power season one is available to stream on Amazon Prime.
