However, how things ended between Peter Parker and MJ (portrayed by Zendaya) in Spider-Man: No Way Home might lead to a significant shift in the plot of the upcoming movie.
At the end of the third Spider-Man movie, MJ couldn’t recognize Peter Parker and Parker couldn’t bring himself up to explain what their relationship was before the mind cleanse. Since then, many fans and industry insiders have been speculating new theories for the upcoming flick. Well, it’s kind of a disappointing update for Tomdaya fans as Zendaya and Tom Holland might not be seen romancing as Peter and MJ in Spider-Man 4. Although the Dune actress is going to reprise her role in the next film, according to The InSneider, she will have a minor part. On the other hand, industry scooper, Daniel Richtman has now stated that Holland’s character might have a new love interest.
As per Richtman’s Patreon post, he noted that Marvel might introduce a new character that will take over Parker’s heart replacing MJ. Although he didn’t confirm which character it would be, he suggested a potential choice. Richtman wrote, “Spider-Man 4 will feature a new female love interest. Black Cat is a potential choice, but the official casting will be announced soon.“

Based on a recent report by MyTimeToShineHello, Kevin Feige was not happy about how the script was flowing. And apparently, that has led to the rewriting of a new script. Richtman also shared a similar update on his Patreon and claimed that the OG script had two classic villains, including Shocker and Scorpion. How the new script will turn out only time can tell.
Before the script change talk and Parker’s new love interest update floated online, Holland opened up about the script on The Rich Roll Podcast. He said,
It needs work, but the writers are doing a great job. I read it three weeks ago and it really lit a fire in me. Zendaya and I sat down and read it together and we at times were bouncing around the living room like this is a real movie worthy of the fans’ respect.
Well, now whether Marvel will uproot MJ from the script and introduce a new character or not offering a unique perspective to Parker’s love life, we don’t know. But, as per the fan theories, there are a few possibilities. As per the rumor mills, Anya Taylor-Joy‘s name for the new character has been surfacing for quite a while. Although no confirmed report has been shared by MCU, fans are very excited about the upcoming flick.
