Tom Holland returned as the web-slinger in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, nearly five years after No Way Home famously brought together the three live-action versions of the character. It has become one of the biggest cinematic events of a year already packed with massive blockbusters like Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey, and highly anticipated upcoming releases like Dune: Part Three.
While Brand New Day sees Peter return, fans need not wait too long for his next appearance in the MCU. Upcoming films and shows from the franchise see the web-crawler making an appearance, with the next one being season 2 of the animated show, Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man.
Spider-Man Returns to the MCU in Animation in Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man
While the Multiverse Saga brought together multiple Spider-Men, one particular Spider-Man will get the limelight after Brand New Day. The MCU’s next Spider-Man project is likely to be the animated show Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, with season 2 expected to release in 2026.
Set in a separate continuity from Holland’s MCU, the animated series follows a young Peter Parker (voiced by Hudson Thames), mentored by Norman Osborn rather than Tony Stark, with new friends Harry Osborn and Nico Minoru replacing MJ and Ned.
Season 2 is picking up major threads from the finale, in which Doctor Strange helped Spidey battle the Venom symbiote after it arrived from another dimension, while Norman secretly kept a piece of it for experimentation, and Peter’s father, Richard, was revealed to be alive and imprisoned.
While the first season was released in January 2025, it has been more than a year, and there is no actual release date for season 2. However, the tentative schedule seems to be late 2026.
What’s After Brand New Day for Tom Holland’s Spider-Man?
Spider-Man: Brand New Day saw Tom Holland’s Peter Parker live life after everyone forgot about his identity and dealt with the aftermath of Aunt May’s death. The film directly leads into Avengers: Doomsday, which will release at the end of the year, and Secret Wars, which is scheduled for next year.
Spider-Man producer Amy Pascal has been vocal about Brand New Day being the start of a new trilogy of films. Kevin Feige stated that the plan for the character in the MCU was to introduce Miles Morales after the conclusion of the Spider-Verse movies. Pascal also hoped that director Destin Daniel Cretton would return (via Comic Book).
According to IGN, Feige mentioned that both he and Pascal have been in constant touch and are planning out the next four-to-five Spider-Man films. Tom Holland, too, has mentioned that he is open to playing Spidey for a long time, rescinding his previous statement about wanting to stop playing the character after he hits 30 (via GQ). More Spider-Man films are definitely on the horizon.
