Kelly Ripa Faced Challenges While Writing Her Mémoire
Kelly Ripa isn’t holding back herself from spilling secrets and personal life details. The 52-year-old actress is known for having no control over her mouth when it comes to sharing personal information. The TV show host has previously spoken about her intimate life with her husband on live television. However, recently with her book being launched by the end of September 2022, Kelly Ripa opened up her life to her readers as well.
Appearing on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, the actress spoke purposefully about the challenges she faced while writing her mémoire. She started off by letting her audience know, that her passionate way of journaling made her write 200 extra pages which were to be removed while editing. Further, she mentioned, “It was a lot harder than I thought. I thought that, because I read books, that I could somehow write them.” Without acknowledging the challenges that she might face in the process, Ripa admitted to jumping right into it.
Jimmy Fallon added to the conversation that “it’s very hard to write a book”. To which Ripa admitted, “it was really hard, and you know there were times I realized I’m such a poor typist, that I wound up writing it freehand half the time and then transposing it.” Speaking with Fallon, Ripa shared her honest feelings regarding her book and the challenges associated with it.
Kelly Ripa Avoided Hiring A Ghostwriter For Her Mémoire
Kelly Ripa confessed how difficult writing a book can be, however, on being asked about hiring a ghostwriter, she simply avoided it. Fans feel it’s because she is too proud to hire a ghostwriter, while others feel it would have snatched her out of the limelight. But all throughout, Ripa had a completely different opinion about not hiring a ghostwriter.
Jimmy Fallon brought up the topic of ghostwriting, “your publisher said, hey do you want a ghostwriter? Someone that can write this for you?” Before Ripa could reply to Fallon’s question, he answered it himself stating, “you said, ‘No, if I’m doing this, I got to do it myself.‘” Proud of doing it herself, Kelly Ripa accepted Fallon’s appreciation of “good for you”.
Being overly modest and yet honest at the same time, Ripa mentioned, “good for me, but dumb me because I googled a thousand times, how to use a semicolon, how to use a colon. I still don’t know.” Shocked at her own incapabilities, and joined by Jimmy Fallon, the 52-year-old confessed, “I graduated high school, I should know this”
Finally, addressing the challenges and overcoming them with the help of her peers, editors, and publisher, Kelly Ripa launched her book Live Wire: Long-Winded Short Stories.
