The Hollywood entertainment industry has produced several successful franchises like the Marvel Cinematic Universe and Fast and Furious. Among them is an old and longest-running franchise Indiana Jones. It began with the 1981 film, Raiders of the Lost Ark and has continued with four more films over the next four decades, one of which is set to release in June this year.

Harrison Ford is an important part of the franchise. He is the star of Indiana Jones and is set to reprise his role as the adventurer and archaeologist in the upcoming film. Ford played the character since the 1981 movie, and the new movie Dial of Destiny is anticipated to be his final outing as the archaeology professor. The film had an early screening, and the reviews are out. And looks like the final film of the 80-year-old actor had resulted unexpectedly low.

Harrison Ford’s Indian Jones 5 scores low on Rotten Tomatoes

Harrison Ford and the Indian Jones franchises are inseparable. The actor has portrayed the lead role for over four decades. The new movie, Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny is his final film and the last in the 40-year-old franchise. The film was screened in France at the Cannes Film Festival. Following the popularity of the franchise, it didn’t take long for reviews to pop up online.

There were mixed reviews about the movie. After eight reviews, Indiana Jones 5 has a 50% critic approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes, earning it the unfavorable moniker of “rotten” for the time being.

The critics have blamed the weak script for the failure of the film. The bad narrative prevents the tale from taking enough chances. It marks the first movie in the franchise to land such a low rating.

Other movies like Raiders of the Lost Ark scored 93%, and Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade have an 84% rating. While Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom and Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull scored 76% and & 77% respectively.

The 80-year-old actor has been on many adventures during the four decades of the Indiana Jones franchise. He started with the 1981 film and will end his journey with the 2023 movie. Dial of Destiny is meant to be the final movie in the Indiana Jones franchise.

The upcoming film will see Dr. Jones race against time to find a fabled dial that has the power to alter history. Accompanied by his goddaughter, he soon finds himself facing off against Jürgen Voller, a former Nazi who works for NASA.

Dial of Destiny is 2 hours and 22 minutes long and is Lucasfilm’s most expensive movie ever.

Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny hits theaters on June 30, 2023.
