Samuel L Jackson has appeared in a plethora of big office hits. Few actors have had as many blockbusters with their names on them as Jackson. Some of his most famous franchises, such as Star Wars and Marvel’s The Avengers, have generated billions of dollars at the box office.

The actor is one of the highest-grossing actors in the industry. However, megastar Harrison Ford once managed to surpass the 74-year-old to take the number one spot of highest-grossing actors with his Star Wars and Indiana Jones franchises.

The Secret Invasion actor was well aware that Ford outperformed him at the box office. He reasoned that he simply needed to star in one more film to secure the top slot. During the chat with Nick Grimshaw on The Breakfast Show, the Pulp Fiction star said,

“Actually, I’ve been looking into that… Because there was an article in the paper that said I was second, but Harrison [Ford] was only about $50 million ahead but I passed him when we did Tarzan in the summer. So I might be number one again…”

The Legend of Tarzan, a 2016 film, grossed $356.7 million at the box office, which was enough for Samuel L Jackson to take the top spot and beat the Indiana Jones star.

Despite that, the Pulp Fiction star quickly made a comeback with his long-time friend director Spike Lee’s 1991 film, Jungle Fever. He played a drug addict in the film, and his performance was so outstanding that he received an award for Supporting Actor at the 1991 Cannes Film Festival.

The Glass actor has also appeared in films with action hero Bruce Willis, notably the third installment of Die Hard. Marvel was granted permission in 2002 to construct Nick Fury’s character based on Samuel L. Jackson’s appearance. His role in Marvel is most famous and long-running.
