“He deserves another shot as Jack”: Pirates of the Caribbean Star Wants Johnny Depp Back in Disney But Has a Bad News For the Fans
The popular franchise, Pirates of the Caribbean never failed to capture our imagination with its thrilling adventure, supernatural elements, and humor, becoming an integral part of our childhood. Johnny Depp’s portrayal of Captain Jack Sparrow became synonymous with the franchise’s identity. Still, no other franchise has managed to maintain its stardom with five installments over a comparable period. Due to the subsequent allegations, Depp was fired from the franchise. Recently, the antagonist of the film, Jacoby, talked about Depp’s possible return.
Vince Lozano wants return of Johnny Depp
Johnny Depp is a wide-ranging actor; his role as Captain Jack Sparrow in Pirates of the Caribbean formed a cult following. The actor’s popularity is one of the major factors that led to the success of the following sequels, with the audience eagerly waiting for each new release. The Pirates of the Caribbean actor, Vince Lozano, recently discussed Jack Sparrow’s return to the show after he quit the role. Talking to Movieweb, he said,
“I think he deserves another shot as Jack, but I don’t think it’s going to happen. I’m hearing a lot of stories out there. The audience is there, though. I do a lot of pirate conventions, and there’s such a big subculture of people that dress up like pirates, and they love Johnny.”
Lazano believes that Depp fully deserves a return to the franchise as Captain Jack Sparrow. He also expressed his admiration for Depp and acknowledges the dedication of his fans. Even though he is out of the franchise, people never give up on their expectations for his return. The producer of Pirates of the Caribbean, Jerry Bruckheimer, hinted that Johnny Depp might come back for the sixth installment of the franchise. He showered Depp with giddy accolades, saying,
“He’s just so good at what he does, and actors recover from things like this. He’s a good individual, and he’s a caring individual. He’s somebody that you can rely on, and he’s just terrific. I think Johnny is an utter friend and an amazing artist, and, again, you go through things in life you wish you hadn’t, but he’s still a talented artist.”
The actor lost his role in the hit franchise after his ex-wife, Amber Heard, accused him of domestic violence. In the legal battle, Depp and Heard were found liable for defamation. Depp won the case after the jury granted him higher damages.
Uncertainty surrounds Pirates of the Caribbean 6’s production
Disney also claimed that they wanted to bring Johnny Depp with “new energy” to the latest film in the series; however, there is no guarantee that the actor would reprise the role for the sixth time. Depp announced that he would not be working on any projects for Disney during his trial. However, there is no assurance regarding the actor’s return.
In late 2022, Jerry Bruckheimer also once provided a potential update on the sixth installment, the director, Joachim Rønning is also confirmed for the run, and the script was in the process of being developed. Despite all previous revisions, there hasn’t been any recent news confirming the film’s production status As of 2023, there are still no updates in the Pirates of the Caribbean 6 release date. The fans will likely have to wait until mid-to-late 2024 or 2025 for any concrete news.
