“He is going to be in The Acolyte”: After Pedro Pascal and Liam Neeson, Another DC Actor Reportedly Joins Star Wars
Following in the footsteps of Pedro Pascal and Liam Neeson, another big name is rumored to be joining the galaxy far, far away. Pascal famously landed his role in The Mandalorian through a bit of a casting mix-up. When he auditioned for the lead role, he initially thought it might be for legendary Star Wars bounty hunter Boba Fett, not Din Djarin.
However, on the flip side, this new actor supposedly knows exactly who they’re going to play. So, who is this mystery actor, and what role will they play in the upcoming Disney+ series, The Acolyte? Let’s find out!
Star Wars Adds Another DC Actor to Cast
The upcoming Star Wars prequel series, The Acolyte, set 100 years before The Phantom Menace, might be getting a familiar face for Arrowverse fans. A new revelation by an industry insider suggests an actor from the CW superhero shows will join the cast!
This rumored casting is making fans even more excited for the series, especially since they’re bringing in talent from another big franchise.
In a chat with John Rocha on the new episode of The Hot Mic, industry insider Jeff Sneider revealed that David Harewood will be joining the new Star Wars series. He said:
“David Harewood, who played Martian Manhunter on ‘Supergirl’ and bunch of those DC I guess that whole like Arrow verse he was John Jones, he is going to be in ‘The Acolyte.’ David Harewood joined the cast of ‘The Acolyte,’ it’s a small role but he will be in the show, which I believe debuts in June.”
Harewood made a name for himself as Martian Manhunter in the CW’s Arrowverse, especially with a standout role in Supergirl. Even though it’s thrilling that Harewood might be joining the Star Wars universe, which character he’ll be playing in the galaxy far, far away during the early High Republic Era is still unknown.
The Acolyte Offers a Fresh Take on the Star Wars Franchise
The Acolyte, Lucasfilm’s upcoming show on Disney+, takes viewers back to a unique era in the franchise’s history: the High Republic. This period is set 500-100 years before the Skywalker saga, when the Jedi were super strong and the Sith were lurking in the shadows. It offers a fresh look at Star Wars, changing up the usual story we know.
So, instead of the Jedi fighting the Sith, The Acolyte shows us how the Sith become powerful from a new angle. The series comes to Disney+ on June 4th, 2024, a date slightly earlier than originally reported by Collider (June 5th).
