What Is Kaiju Girl Caramelise About?
Who could have imagined that the giant monster genre would be perfectly blended with a high school romance? Initially, the anime barely feels like a kaiju show at all. Viewers are introduced to a cute girl, Kuroe, who goes to high school and behaves like any ordinary teenager. Soon, it is revealed that she has a massive crush on a popular guy from her class.
So far, everything seems normal, right? But every time she sees her love interest, her heart starts pounding, with its rate increasing every moment. And at some point, it reaches its threshold, and Kuroe transforms into a big kaiju! Now, isn’t it so unfair? While Kuroe is just trying to deal with her feelings, humans, on the other hand, try to kill her as a threat when she transforms into her monster form.
No one actually knows her true identity, though. But will she be able to get a hold of her feelings and gain some confidence, so that she doesn’t get overloaded again? Well, you will have to find that out in the anime.

Similar to most seasonal anime, Kaiju Girl Caramelise has also released a few trailers before the anime’s premiere. However, the final main trailer was released roughly two months ago, which you can see directly here:
The trailer opens with a scene showing fighter helicopters and special task forces engaging in a fight with a massive kaiju in Japan. But soon after, it cuts to a cute high school girl named Kuroe. We even get to eavesdrop on her thoughts, which mention that she deeply loves a guy from her school but is scared to confess. Then, there are even scenes where the two share some quality time.
But so far, it seems to remain platonic, or more like one-sided. Other side characters are also introduced in the trailer. But in the final half of the trailer, the tone gets darker. The whole scene turns into chaos as the kaiju from the beginning of the trailer reappears. The CGI used for the kaiju may look a bit weird, but the overall animation remains pretty consistent throughout the trailer.
