The Bachelor Season 29 is airing right now, but the contestants from that season are not the only people making headlines. The breakup of the winner of Season 25, Rachael Kirkconnell, and the male lead of the season, Matt James is one of the most discussed topics on the internet right now.

This is certainly not the first time that the couple has made headlines or the first time that they have broken up. However, by the looks of it, the relationship seems to have ended although not in a way that fans are very impressed with, especially because of how James handled the whole situation. As it turns out, things were not that good even when they broke up the first time if fans are to believe what Kirkconnell has alleged about her former partner.

Rachael Kirkconnell revealed the one shocking thing that Matt James allegedly did amidst her racism controversy

Born and raised in Cumming, Georgia, Rachael Kirkconnell gained popularity among netizens when she appeared as one of the contestants on the twenty-fifth season of The Bachelor. This was the first season in which the male lead was a Black man, Matt James. Kirkconnell emerged as the winner of the final rose.

Kirkconnell and James were dating when their season of the show started airing, but they broke up while it was still on air. It was quite a mess because Kirkconnell had landed amid an all-consuming controversy after attending a controversial Antebellum South plantation-themed formal in 2018.

The views of the internet were divided as some thought that she deserved a second chance, while others were quick to jump on the hate train against her. James addressed the situation whether or not he liked it and Kirkconnell apologized publicly later. The duo revived their relationship in 2021, but the dark side of that breakup had not surfaced on the internet until recently.

During her appearance on Alex Cooper’s Call Her Daddy podcast, Kirkconnell alleged that James was seeing another girl during their first breakup. Now, that does not seem like a problem at all, but when we consider the fact that they were still talking after the breakup James did not find it necessary to tell her and she found out from her sister-in-law.

I was really, really upset just because I felt like it was definitely kept a secret from me. He technically didn’t lie because I never asked, but at the same time, I never would have—well, maybe he did lie a little bit. Now that I think about it, maybe there were some lies in there, because I was very, very, very upset when I found everything out. I just remember telling him that he lied to me.

At the time, she left his place and told him that they were done. A week or so later, they reconnected, James apologized and asked for a second chance which Kirkconnell gave him. They were together for almost four years before hitting a dead end earlier this month.

Matt James’ breakup post came as a shock to Rachael Kirkconnell

A week ago, James posted a picture of himself and Kirkconnell holding hands and announced their breakup in the caption. The world was in shock, and so was Kirkconnell herself because the post was absolutely unprecedented. It was not something they had discussed mutually, and she was on a flight when she found out about the post.

Literally the plane is taking off and I see his post, and that’s it. I don’t have any service or anything for the next 12 hours, so I’m freaking out because, you know, just got broken up with, and now, a few hours later, it’s for the whole world to see and I’m still trying to process it. I’m still in total shock.

She further said that the shock might have been the reason why she still had not posted anything or talked about it publicly until she appeared for the interview. However, at no point during the interview, she seemed to be shading James or blaming him for what happened which is very commendable.
