James Gunn and Peter Safran were roped in by the reputed DC studios as co-CEOs after the back-to-back critical and commercial flops. The duo made headlines in an attempt to revamp and reinvent the superhero franchise as prominent A-listers were shown the exit door and newcomers were welcomed on board. According to their short stint with DCEU, things have not changed much as the recently released Blue Beetle has also joined the list of flops.

The Guardians Of The Galaxy filmmaker is one of the most responsive Hollywood celebrities when it comes to social media. Irrespective of his packed-up schedule with his upcoming first project from DCEU, Superman: Legacy James Gunn ends up making time to answer the concerns and queries of DC fans with respect to the characters and future projects. He was criticized for his insensitive and careless online opinion made by the director almost 11 years ago, which resurfaced recently.  

DC Head James Gunn’s Online Opinion Lands Him Into Trouble, Deletes Facebook Account

The active online presence of DC head James Gunn landed him in hot waters. This time it wasn’t his commentary on X, previously known as Twitter, but Facebook. His almost a decade-old comment on Batman brought him under the media scanner, which even made him deactivate his Facebook account.

Eleven years ago, the American filmmaker criticized one of the most popular projects from the House of DCU, Batman. He expressed his dislike for the reputed actor Michael Keaton’s Caped Crusader and even called his voice ridiculous. He further mentioned that Tim Burton’s Batman was “one of the most boring films ever as it was poorly written.”

The Suicide Squad director even ripped apart the iconic portrayal of Jack Nicholson’s Joker and commented- “f**k you, everyone involved in that travesty.”

James Gunn did not leave one of the greatest filmmakers in Hollywood Christopher Nolan. He mentioned having problems with the Dunkirk director’s projects. According to the media outlet The Direct, his comment read as

“I have problems with both of Nolan’s films – I don’t think either one is classic, and I don’t even really think Batman Begins is good,”

This is not the first time James Gunn’s social media antics have landed him in trouble. Previously he was fired over his past scandalous jokes that resurfaced during the filming of Guardians Of The Galaxy. Later he had to apologize for it.

 

DCU Fans Criticize James Gunn For Belittling The Iconic Actors and Directors Of Hollywood

James Gunn and his love-hate relationship with controversies with respect to his social media antics need no description. No doubt he is a great filmmaker and a very responsive studio head, but sometimes his careless approach towards handling social media blows up in his face. He was blasted by DC fans for an eleven-year-old comment on Facebook, where he openly criticized some of the notable projects from the House of DC.

Fans took to X, previously known as Twitter, and reacted. An X user even demanded his removal from the billion-dollar superhero franchise.

“What happens… and then the broad assumptions made by certain sites. I haven’t been on FB in so long I don’t even know how to answer the questions to get back on.”

It is important to weigh your words with respect to social posting especially when one is a reputed face in the world of entertainment. James Gunn’s careless and insensitive comments on the previous DC projects can lead to serious consequences.
