What is more surprising in the Scream 2 star’s memoir is that she mentioned feeling heartbroken when her former boyfriend and rapper Tupac Shakur was imprisoned in Rikers Island.
Will Smith’s wife spoke in depth regarding her relationship with Shakur and how he proposed to her despite being surrounded by allegations and being in jail. Pinkett Smith during an interview with All The Smoke, stated that opening up about his arrest was “one of the most painful parts” of writing her memoir. The actress disclosed:
“Seeing him there [in prison], the condition that he was in, and having to leave him there, he was in bad shape. So when he asked me to get married, I knew at that time that: he needed somebody to do time with him which I was going to do anyway – you don’t have to marry me to do time, I’m here – but he needed a rock.”
Jada Pinkett Smith revealed that leaving Tupac Shakur in that place was a painful experience however, the same painful experience didn’t surround her when it was claimed that Pinkett Smith was cheating on Will Smith. The rumors surrounding Jada Pinkett Smith cheating on Will Smith with singer August Alsina have been in the talks recently as the actress has addressed that she and Smith separated in 2016, but have managed to refrain from divorce, and now she has finally answered one of the burning questions about her marriage.
The Set it Off star sat for a conversation with her mother, Adrienne Banfield-Norris, on TalkShopLive, during which she squarely addressed the topic. Pinkett Smith defended herself and said:
“I just need people to know, okay, I did not cheat on Will Smith, no matter how sad he looked at that table.”
The Collateral star explained that she did not indulge in a love relationship with her rumored boyfriend Alsina, and emphasized those were just rumors as she chose to stay with Smith no matter what the pair was going through. Jada Pinkett Smith clarified that Will Smith and her have no plans to separate or end their marriage.
