However, in a recent interview director David Spade who once called Steven Seagal a “pain in the neck” said that Seagal’s downfall was due to his lack of humor and not because of all the legal action was going through.
While talking about this Spade said that while Steven Seagal was working as a host on the Saturday Night Live show in 1991, he was not ready to make fun of himself. Seagal had built an image of himself as a cool guy and he found it very disrespectful to make fun of himself while hosting the show and this was one of the main reasons for his demise.
“A lot of people think we’re there to make fun of them,” Spade noted. “But if we’re getting you on the show to host, we all want it to work. And if you make fun of yourself — this is where it gets tricky — if you make fun of yourself, it will benefit you. And if you don’t, and if you fight it so much — that was [Seagal]. He was too cool and had his image.”
This statement by David Spade came after many of Seagal’s co-workers blamed him for his awful behavior on the set.
Steven Seagal was accused of bullying and assaulting people.
Steven Seagal was indeed very well known for his on-screen roles but his behavior off the screen was not something to be praised. Seagal has been repeatedly accused of bullying and harassing people on the set which is also one of the reasons why his career came to an end.

And some of his sketch ideas were so heinous, so hilariously awful, it was like we were on Candid Camera.”
Along with all of this Steven Seagal was also accused and sued for sexual harassment. All of this eventually led the actor towards the downfall of his career.
