Kate’s daughter, Lila Moss, has also decided to follow in her mother’s footsteps. However, even though she is on her rise to fame, her life is not as glamorous as it is assumed for the modeling industry. Lila Grace Moss Hack was born in September 2002 in London to Kate Moss and Jefferson Hack. Although Kate and Jefferson were together at the time of her birth, the couple separated shortly after. But they have managed to perform their co-parenting roles properly.

Initially, Kate had never been completely in favor of Lila’s desire to become a model. However, she started modeling in 2018, signing for Marc Jacobs Beauty. Later, she walked on the runway for the first time when she opened Miu Miu’s spring/summer 2021 season during Paris Fashion Week 2020. Since then she has been modeling for campaigns with popular brands.

But there is more to Lila’s life than becoming one of the top rising models in the world. She is a diabetic, specifically a Type 1 diabetic, which is a chronic condition that requires constant attention every day. In an interview with The Kit, Lila confessed,

I think not many people know that I have diabetes. It’s not visible from the outside, so no one would really know just by looking at you. I have type 1.

Type 1 diabetes is an autoimmune disease in which the pancreas does not secrete sufficient insulin. This is not due to diet or habit of living. It often has a genetic root cause and sometimes some environmental factors as well.

There was a time when it was considered fatal. However, the invention of insulin shots came as a boon. It is not a small task to take care of Type 1 diabetes. This includes taking blood sugar checks multiple times per day. Lila has to rely on insulin shots or pumps to make sure her body functions normally.

Victoria’s Secret returned after six years. The event featured both well-known celebrities and new fashion talents. But the real showstopper was Kate Moss, who was making her debut at the age of 50.

Kate walked the golden runway in an all-black outfit with angel wings, and her famous smoldering expression was as strong as ever. Moreover, just a few minutes before Kate, her 22-year-old daughter walked the runway.

Talking about her Victoria’s Secret debut, Kate told Vogue, “It’s fun and exciting, but I still get nervous.” She also pointed out that the latest developments are more diverse and praised the brand for becoming more inclusive, saying, “Everybody buys clothes, not just 22-year-old girls.”

Fashion is a daily routine for Lita Moss, but her Type 1 diabetes is what makes her story more encouraging. Also, her decision to stay open about her battle with diabetes contributes to raising awareness and breaking down stigmas.
