Adam Scott shares why he hasn’t watched Parks & Recreation
Actor Adam Scott portrayed a brilliant but socially awkward government official who is trying to redeem his past: Ben Wyatt on Parks & Recreation. He is one of the most beloved characters on the show, who was introduced in season two and was also the love interest of Amy Poehler’s Leslie Knope’s character.
The actor, who is starring in Season 2 of Severance, appeared on the Happy Sad Confused podcast and spoke to Josh Horowitz about his return to Parks & Recreation. He said,
Scott went on to praise the fans of the sitcom, stating that the Parks fans are always the best fans. He added they are just the sweetest, smartest, kindest group of people. But he also revealed that despite loving his character a lot and receiving praise for it, he still cannot watch the sitcom. He explained,
Adam Scott added that the entire cast had so much fun making the show that meant something to people and to them. The cast reunited in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic to showcase how Leslie Knope and her friends have been handling their lives in quarantine. The episode served as a fundraiser for Feeding America.
In an interview with GQ, the actor shared that before he got the part of Wyatt, he had auditioned for the role of Josh, who was the love interest of Ann, played by Rashida Jones. But the makers felt he was far better than Ben Wyatt.
Adam Scott reveals he does not think he has ‘made it’
In an interview with BI, the actor was asked about his ‘made it moment, to which he said that he does not think he has had a ‘made it’ moment.
He explained that there is a constant fear in the back of one’s mind at the end of every job that they might never go to work again, and that’s something that stays with them no matter what level they are. He added,
Adam Scott recalled that over the years, he had many experiences where things did not work out. The actor mentioned that the stakes in the industry are so high, but there are also low odds. Upon asking about his best and worst business decisions, he mentioned that his partnership with Philips Norelco is something he is very proud of.
Talking about bad, Scott added that he is always trying to avoid those. Adam Scott had revealed that after his first table read for the show, actress Aubrey Plaza passed him a note that read, ‘Run.’ He added that it was a perfect welcome note.
The actor noted that he stayed because he was an avid watcher and a fan of the show. Parks and Recreation is available to stream on Peacock.
