“He’ll have a lot to say at the appropriate time”: Latest Statement From Justin Timberlake’s Attorney Hints at New Revelations to Singer’s Arrest
Singer, actor, and entrepreneur Justin Timberlake is once again in the news, but this time it’s not because of his music. The Grammy Award winner has found himself in legal trouble after he got arrested for Driving While Intoxicated (DWI) in the Hamptons community of Sag Harbor.
The news of the arrest of the acclaimed singer was surprising for fans and the entertainment industry. However, the case is not over yet, as Timberlake’s attorney has hinted that there are more details that can be brought to light, which may clear up and explain the arrest.
Justin Timberlake’s Arrest and His Attorney’s Statement
According to the police statements (via Page Six), Timberlake failed to stop at the stop sign and also failed to drive on the right side of the road twice. The arresting officer stated,
It was ascertained that [Timberlake] was operating said vehicle in an intoxicated condition, in that: his eyes were bloodshot and glassy, a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage was emanating from his breath, he was unable to divide attention, he had slowed speech, he was unsteady afoot, and he performed poorly on all standardized field sobriety tests.
The officer also stated that Justin Timberlake verbally admitted that he had one martini and was going to his friend’s home. He also stated that the singer didn’t agree to have a breath analyzer test three times in the process. According to Deadline, the court has released him on his own recognizance, and his next virtual court appearance will be on July 26, 2024.
Timberlake’s attorney, Edward Burke Jr., stated in a conversation with Us Weekly that he looks forward to defending him.
I will have a lot to say at the appropriate time but am currently awaiting full discovery from the district attorney’s office. The charge was a single count because he refused the breath test. Mr. Timberlake was also charged with two other court citations, running a stop sign and not traveling in the correct traffic lane.
According to Us Weekly, Timberlake’s mugshot was released, and he appeared to have bloodshot eyes and difficulty speaking fluently. If Timberlake loses the legal battle, he will have to go through jail time, fines, and the suspension of his driver’s license.
Justin Timberlake Admitted to Having Drugs When No Cameras Were Around
Amid the ongoing legal battle, Timberlake’s earlier confession of having alcohol and drugs is catching attention once again. In a 2006 interview with Observer Music Monthly, he said (via Today),
I’ve done way too many drugs already. I’ve already inhaled and I’ve already … who knows? I’m just like everyone else, I get completely plastered, I’ve done my fair share of drugs and I’ve been caught places with my pants down.
It is now up to Timberlake’s legal team to decide how they will handle his case. According to the New York Post, the singer was completely drunk before his arrest and even drank someone else’s drink. Moreover, Timberlake crashed his car in Sag Harbor in 2003 as well.
Although the confessions were made 20 years ago, their resurfacing creates concern about Timberlake’s struggle with alcoholism and substance abuse. Also, as his legal battle continues, it is yet to be seen whether these earlier statements will have any impact on it or not.
