Here’s What Uncharted Star Tom Holland Do To Not Look Like A Child Next To Mark Wahlberg
While Tom Holland is mostly associated with No Way Home these days, but the actor also played the role of video game adventurer Nathan Drake, also the hero of the Uncharted film franchise. Holland is loved by many, is fit, and has physically transformed himself to fit into roles in films like Spider-Man: Homecoming and also, Cherry, among a few others. However, for Tom, he felt he needed to get bigger. This is not really to match the source material of the video game, as it’s almost impossible to be as fit and strong as the characters shown in video games. Rather, the British actor wanted to make sure he doesn’t look undersized while starring in the film alongside co-actor Mark Wahlberg.
It’s quite known among fans that Uncharted began its production slightly late due to the pandemic which brought everything to a halt. While everyone around the globe was only speculating if the film will ever see the daylight, Tom Holland was busy bulking himself up.
Tom Holland Bulked Himself Up For Uncharted
“When we went to set for the first time, I saw Mark Wahlberg, and Mark is massive. He is a unit,” Holland told Total Film (via GamesRadar). “I was in good shape, but I wasn’t by any means big.”
When the world was hit by the COVID-19 pandemic and the production was shut down due to the same reason, Holland revealed that he spent almost five months just bulking up and growing himself into the role of Drake literally. So, what was the motivation behind all this? Well, of course, sharing the screen with Mark.
“We went home for five months, all I did was eat and train, eat and train, eat and train – to put a bit of timber on, to make me look not like a child next to Mark,” Holland admitted.

Obviously, Tom Holland isn’t the first superhero actor to put on weight, but since he also plays the timid Peter Parker, he is mostly in an unusual position of doing a superhero role that did not essentially need that, but another role that demanded Holland some muscles. It’s not like Mark Wahlberg is like a supporting actor or a villain in the film where Holland wouldn’t get enough screentime with him; Wahlberg plays the role of Sully, who is the mentor of Drake and someone with whom Holland will share the screen quite a lot.
Uncharted stands as a prequel to the games and stars Tom Holland as a young Drake, showing how he met and became friends with Sully. The film is scheduled for a February 2022 release.
