Barbenheimer mania has taken over Twitter, with the social media site filled with memes, jokes, references, and controversial takes related to Barbie, Oppenheimer, or both at the same time. Going by the reactions on Twitter and box office collection figures, both movies are doing well, but the same can’t be said about the site through which we get to experience all the news and more about our favorite movies.

Ever since taking over Twitter, Elon Musk has implemented plenty of rogue changes, including introducing Twitter Blue – a new monthly or annual subscription that offers new features and a verification tick. The democratization of check marks left many authentic and popular voices perplexed because that used to allow them to stand out and avoid imposters. But the identity issue for individual users might feel insignificant following Musk’s latest move.

Why Is Twitter Boss Elon Musk Being Criticized?

Elon Musk has changed the whole identity of the site that he bought for $44 billion, including $33.5 billion in equity. On Monday, Twitter launched its new logo, replacing the famous blue bird with a white X. “X is here! Let’s do this,” tweeted Chief Executive Officer, Linda Yaccarino.

The businessman not only bid adieu to Twitter and all its birds but also decided to redirect X.com to Twitter.

The 52-year-old also heads Space Exploration Technologies Corp, which is commonly known as SpaceX. And his affinity for the letter X goes back to 1999 when he founded an online financial services company known as PayPal. PayPal has made great strides since its inception but had to leave the mind behind it, behind.

In 2000, he tried to rebrand PayPal as X.com but his idea wasn’t received too well and he was eventually forced out by the board and replaced as CEO by Peter Thiel.

Considering the comments of his new CEO at Twitter, and the number of Twitter employees he has laid off ever since the take-over, it’s unlikely he’ll receive the same push for his rogue ideas this time.

Elon Musk Thinks Oppenheimer Is Too Long

Despite all these controversial moves, there’s no doubt Musk is considered a genius by millions out there. However, going by his recent Twitter post (or should we say X post?) he didn’t find a documentary feature about another brilliant mind very entertaining.

Cillian Murphy‘s lead Oppenheimer opened in theatres on the 21st of July, and ever since its release the movie has been widely lauded for its portrayal of J. Robert Oppenheimer – the father of the atomic bomb.

But Musk shared a picture – understood to be taken originally by another user – of someone enjoying TikTok while watching Oppenheimer. The caption on it read: “This Oppenheimer movie is way too long.”

Strictly speaking, Christopher Nolan’s movie is indeed long, with a run-time of three hours. But his gripping work makes it a worthwhile watch.
