Hiro Mashima Had Already Decided How to End Fairy Tail Due to a Regret from His Previous Manga: “That’s for the fans to find out”
The official website revealed the teaser trailer of Hiro Mashima and Atsuo Ueda’s Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest that reached new heights, finally ending fans’ anticipation. The trailer not only gives a sneak peek at the character designs but also sheds light on important details, such as the star-studded cast, the crew behind the scenes, and the premiere slated for July.
Hiro Mashima, the creator of Fairy Tail and Rave Master, made his first American comic-con appearance at San Diego Comic-Con way back in 2008. Mashima met his fans at autograph sessions and a spotlight panel appearance, hosted by Del Rey Manga. Before the panel, Mashima answered a few interview questions giving insight into his works.
Hiro Mashima Wanted A Different Ending For Fairy Tail
When asked in the interview whether he wanted to accomplish something new with Fairy Tail compared to his previous work, he suggested that he wanted a different ending for Fairy Tail. Unlike Rave Master, which had a sentimental ending, Mashima wanted to make this new story more fun. He continues:
“The main difference is that in Rave Master, the goal was to save the world. In Fairy Tail, it’s all about this guild of wizards, and the jobs they have to do. It’s about their everyday lives. Over time, this might change, but that’s for the fans to find out as they continue to read this story! (laughs)“
Hiro Mashima further shared that he wanted to be a manga artist for as far as he could remember. When asked which artist or story inspired him to become a professional manga artist, he replied that he was inspired by Toriyama Akira, the creator of Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z. He also mentioned Yudetamago (Yoshinori Nakai and Takashi Shimada), the creators of Kinnikuman. The interview also delved into Mashima’s busy life as a manga artist, giving fans an idea about his work environment, his assistants, and the challenging aspects of being a professional manga artist.
