‘Hocus Pocus’ Max : Where Is He Now?
Every Halloween, horror lovers comb the internet for eerie stuff in the same way that zombies scavenge the ground for brains. “Hocus Pocus,” a famous Disney film that combines the October holiday into its family-friendly horrors, is another excellent choice for horror aficionados looking for a good scare.

Omri Katz plays Max, a newcomer to Salem, Massachusetts in “Hocus Pocus.” Max and his family have travelled from Los Angeles to the country of witches and historical ghosts, which are the polar opposites of his interests. When he mistakenly resurrects the Sanderson sisters, who were put to death for witchcraft, his contempt for a particular Salem tale comes back to, um, haunt him. Max, his sister Dani, his love interest Allison, and a talking cat named Binx must save the day now that the Sandersons have risen from the dead and are intent on obtaining immortality by devouring the souls of all the children in Salem (or night, as the case may be).
Since its premiere in 1993, “Hocus Pocus” has become a mainstay of the Millennial Halloween viewing diet. The Disney film, which was initially considered a box office bomb (according to Yahoo News), has since become a cult favourite. As a result, in the minds of fans, Katz will always be Max, the adolescent who lighted the Black Flame Candle. But, since “Hocus Pocus” first aired over 30 years ago, Katz has moved on with his life.
These days, Omri Katz is lighting something other than the Black Flame Candle.
Omri Katz, the star of “Hocus Pocus,” resigned from acting in 2002, according to US Weekly. Other notable jobs include playing John Ross Ewing on the iconic soap opera “Dallas” and starring in the short-lived ’90s TV sitcom “Eerie, Indiana,” according to his IMDb page. The show, like “Hocus Pocus,” was aimed at a youthful audience and concentrated on themes of the supernatural world. Katz portrayed Marshall Teller, a young man who moves to the strange town of the title. Marshall discovers the town’s sci-fi and supernatural secrets with the help of his friend Simon. Katz also appeared in one episode of “Freaks and Geeks,” a critically lauded one-season wonder.
Katz has been working with cannabis startup The Mary Danksters since retiring from performing. Katz posts images from his personal life in between updates on his firm, including photos from a reunion with his “Hocus Pocus” co-stars in 2019. (via Instagram). He’s also a big supporter of and participant in “Hocus Pocus” reunions and themed events, such as the New York Restoration Project in 2020 and Freeform’s 31 Nights of Halloween in 2019.
