It is not a surprise that there are several posts and memes all over the internet about Johnny Depp and Amber Heard’s defamation trial. But is it supposed to be portrayed as a comedy, or even as a television movie? Yes, there have been many incidents in the courtroom that people made fun of. Still, are we ready to get a complete-feature film about it?
The Publicized Courtroom Drama
The defamation case that Johnny Depp and Amber Heard were fighting, was already open to the world. The case was a complete courtroom drama that spread all over the internet. And now there is also an announcement for a TV movie based on the same. This TV drama will be streaming on the platform Tubi. The characters of Johhny Depp and Amber Heard are being played by Mark Hapka and Megan Davis respectively in the movie. The movie is titled “Hot Take: The Johnny Depp/Heard Trial”.
In the trial, the exes of Johnny Depp give their testimonies too, including Kate Moss and Ellen Barkin. While Moss rejects all the claims on Johhny Depp as an abusive person, Barkin, his former girlfriend rather testifies to a different story. She describes their relationship as a “World of violence”.
The court’s order on this defamation case awarded $10 million to Johnny Depp. This was the compensation for the damages made by Amber Heard to Johnny Depp’s reputation. Also, there was a $2 million compensation money awarded to Amber Heard for her troubles. No matter what the results have been, people are finding the trailer of the movie “unintentionally hilarious”. The underlying story also involves serious allegations of sexual violence too. The screenplay is by a comedy writer, Guy Nicolucci, whose background mostly revolves around late-night shows and the roasts on Comedy Central. This is the reason why it seems like there is a borderline incomprehensibility about the movie, powered by the celebrity media circus.
