SUMMARY
  • 'House of the Dragon' heats up as Rhaenyra takes charge.
  • The season will also reimagine a famous scene from 'Game of Thrones.'
  • The show prepares for an epic Fire vs. Blood finale.

With only three episodes left in Season 2, House of the Dragon is heading toward an exciting and dramatic conclusion. The latest trailer shows Rhaenyra Targaryen (Emma D’Arcy) thinking about taking extreme actions to secure her claim to the Iron Throne.

Whereas, Daemon Targaryen (Matt Smith) keeps causing problems for the rival Greens. That’s not it. The upcoming episode might also recreate a scene from Game of Thrones Season 8 that had fans captivated, similar to what Emilia Clarke’s character did in that season.

In the beginning of the trailer (via YouTube), Rhaenrya seems to be seriously considering Jacaerys’ (Harry Collett) idea of finding new riders for their dragons. “It has never been attempted before,” she warns in the trailer. “To claim a dragon, you must also be prepared to die.”

Having dragons would give them an upper hand over the Green’s huge army and their powerful dragon Vhagar. But they need to be careful that whoever they trust with their dragons doesn’t betray them. Meanwhile, Daemon is causing trouble for the Greens. His efforts to convince the Riverlands to support Rhaenyra could mess up their advantage in numbers.

Rhaenyra wants to show she can be a great leader, just like her ancestor, Aegon the Conqueror. She might decide to take charge and handle things herself to prove her abilities. From what we see in the trailer, she’s in the dragon pit of Dragonstone, and there’s chaos in King’s Landing.

It looks like there’s a chance Rhaenyra might fly on her dragon Syrax to show her power – just like Daenerys Targaryen’s (Emilia Clarke) most famous moment. It’s when her character rides a dragon and uses its fire to destroy King’s Landing. It won’t be as big as Daenerys’ moment in season 8, but it’ll still be exciting to see Rhaenyra riding Syrax again.

Ewan Mitchell

In the trailer, we also see Prince Aemond Targaryen (Ewan Mitchell), feeling powerful and eager to challenge Daemon. His mother, Alicent Hightower (Olivia Cooke), is concerned about his reckless behavior, but her efforts to control him are proving ineffective.

She’s better off keeping an eye on Aegon (Tom Glynn-Carney), who is still barely hanging on. Aemond is once again looking at his brother with a lot of hostility in the trailer. If Aegon doesn’t die from his wounds, he might end up being betrayed by his own brother (either literally or in some other way).

Both Rhaenyra and Aemond seem driven by their need to show they are the true heir. Rhaenyra, however, seems guided by her father’s teachings, while Aemond’s is driven more by a desire for revenge. As the season nears its end, the surprises they bring make the finale at Harrenhal very thrilling. Looks like House of the Dragon is getting ready for a big fight between fire and blood!
