The influencer once divulged the story of how the two of them met in one of her TikTok videos. The couple often posted about each other on social media and Payne also defended his girlfriend from some trolls before.
Kate Cassidy Once Revealed the Story Behind How She Met Liam Payne for the First Time
Liam Payne rose to fame as a member of the British-Irish band One Direction, which remains one of the most popular and beloved boybands even today. He dated a fair share of celebrities such as former X Factor dancer Danielle Peazer, supermodel Naomi Campbell, and singer Cheryl Cole, with whom he shares a son.
Months after ending his relationship of almost 3 years with model Maya Henry, Payne was seen with Kate Cassidy for the first time attending a Halloween party in October 2022, according to Daily Mail. The couple made their red carpet debut and went Instagram official later that year.
According to Daily Mail a TikTok video, Cassidy had once shared with her fans how she ended up becoming the Sunshine singer’s girlfriend after a chance encounter at a Charleston nightclub. The influencer said:
I worked at this bar/lounge place called Ritual. Me and all my friends worked there, it was only my second week at work and I didn’t want to work every weekend. They put me on schedule for week two and I really wanted to get off. I tried everything in my power to get off and nothing worked out. On the way to work, my manager texted me and was like “Liam Payne from One Direction is here, you’re going to be taking care of him tonight.”
She further stated that she almost did not want to meet him because she was “freaking out”. Luckily for them, she did meet him and after a little misunderstanding, they went on a lunch date, and the rest, as they say, is history.
Liam Payne Defended Kate Cassidy from Online Trolls
As the internet culture goes, people are quite quick to jump on a hate train when they see it based only on how they perceive something. Such was also the case for Cassidy who became the target of trolls soon after the couple went public with their relationship.
A fan had sent a direct message to the Strip That Down singer, claiming that Cassidy was with him only for his money. According to the Daily Mail, Payne took to his Instagram stories to address the fan’s concerns, writing:
Gotta say you could tell me anything and I couldn’t be turned. I’ve never felt a love like I do for Katelyn. We make each other better people.
He also stated that he would give his girlfriend all his money if that was what she wanted and joked that it was not the case because he was very good-looking. He further admitted that he was very happy to be himself for the first time in his life.
In October 2024, Cassidy had traveled to Argentina with Payne for a five-day trip, which was prolonged as the couple spent two weeks in the country. The influencer decided to end the trip early by returning to her home while the Bedroom Floor singer stayed there and died two days later.
