‘How Did They Milk It For So Long?’: Internet Trolls The Flash After It Becomes Longest Running Arrowverse Show
Arrowverse has always been one of the biggest franchises in CW which will be complete a decade this October. It is set around a shared fictional multiverse much like the DC Universe and DC Multiverse in comic books, which has established multiple crossovers within the plot, characters, or even elements. Interestingly, The Flash which came out in 2014 has achieved a milestone, which is now being trolled for this achievement.

2014’s The Flash is a superhero spin-off series of Arrow that revolves around the Barry Allen incarnation of DC Comics character the Flash, who has the power to move at superhuman speeds. Being well acclaimed by the critics and audiences, in 2021, it was renewed for the eighth season while its ninth season has been renewed in March this year.

The finale of Season 8th that premiered this week made ‘The Flash’ become the longest-running show within the Arrowverse, having a total of 171 episodes so far. While the spin-off series is expected to cross over 170 episodes as the show is now been renewed for the ninth season.
Meanwhile, it still has a long way to go as the longest-running live-action DC TV series, Smallville had 10 seasons with 217 episodes. Though, nothing could be said about the future of the show when the Cw has been canceled with shows like Batwoman and Legends of Tomorrow) or retconned out of the Arrowverse’s “Earth-Prime” continuity (Superman & Lois and Stargirl).

According to the reports, show star Grant Gustin has signed a new one-year contract, assuring that he would appear in a maximum of fifteen episodes in the ninth season. The ninth season will also focus on romance, particularly regarding Grant Gustin’s Barry Allen and Iris West-Allen’s Candice Patton.
The Flash showrunner Eric Wallace in an interview with Comicbook.com shared that the longest-running Arrowverse show will return with the ninth season teasing the genre the show will follow, “One of the goals for next year is to have maximum fun and up the romance,” he said. “That’s something I’m looking forward to. In Season 9, the crisis is gone, and Barry and Iris can be back together full time, so bring on the sexy.”
The Flash will return for its ninth season most likely in 2023 on The CW.
