Tom Holland is gearing up to put on his Spidey suit and swing into the production of Spider-Man 4. There is a long way to go before any confirmed news regarding the plot or new characters will be announced. In the meantime, Marvel insiders and other such people even remotely close to the film’s production keep sharing what they learn.

Mostly, these happen to be rumors and even some of these rumors are too good to believe, but it sure does give fans food for thought. One of the most recent rumors about the movie is that Charlie Cox’s Daredevil will be joining Spider-Man in taking down the new antagonist. This has led fans to wonder if our friendly neighborhood hero will ever be able to do his job on his own without any help from other older superheroes.

Reportedly Tom Holland’s Spider-Man will not be on his own even in the next solo movie

Tom Holland made his debut as Peter Parker/Spider-Man in the MCU movie Captain America: Civil War. Tony Stark/Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.) recruited Peter as a part of his team to fight against Steve Rogers/Captain America’s team in their conflict over the Sokovia Accords. This not only introduced a new young hero in the franchise but also served as a way of gauging his fan reception before launching the solo film franchise.

Fans welcomed Holland’s version of the web-slinger and the first solo film, Spider-Man: Homecoming, was released in 2017. Since then, he has appeared in 4 more movies and it has been a delight for fans to watch Peter grow into the hero he is now. However, one thing that fans have gotten enough of is him needing someone’s help to fight the villain.

While Tony Stark was Spidey’s mentor in the first five movies, the sixth one brought back the two other Spider-Men to aid Holland’s Peter in going against the multiversal villains. Now, industry insider Jeff Sneider has claimed in his newsletter The Insneider that Matt Murdock/Daredevil might return in Spider-Man 4.

Fans are tired of Spidey needing another superhero’s help to deal with evil

This is not the first time that Daredevil will be in a Spider-Man movie as he briefly appeared in Spider-Man: No Way Home. Matt acted as Peter’s lawyer following the revelation of his superhero identity. Besides showcasing his legal expertise, his cameo also hinted at his superhuman abilities when he caught a brick thrown through the window with ease, surprising Peter and others present.

So, while having Matt return in the new movie sounds incredible, it would also mean that he will be mentoring Spider-Man. The young superhero being mentored in his solo movies is something fans seem to have had enough of.

Judging by these reactions, it is clear that as much as fans would love to have Daredvil in a movie and pair up with Spider-Man in a street-level action film, they would also love to see Peter do it all on his own for once. It is time for Holland’s Spidey to grow out of the shadow of his mentors and navigate the world on his own, come what may. That said, it has to be kept in mind that nothing has been confirmed yet.

Frequently asked questions

Is Daredevil confirmed to appear in Spider-Man 4?

No. The idea that Charlie Cox’s Matt Murdock/Daredevil could return in Spider-Man 4 comes from industry insider Jeff Sneider and is an unconfirmed rumor. As the article stresses, Marvel Studios has not officially announced the film’s plot or characters, so this should be treated as speculation rather than fact.

Why do fans want Spider-Man to fight without a mentor in Spider-Man 4?

Across the MCU, Tom Holland’s Peter Parker has often been guided by older heroes: Tony Stark mentored him in his early films, and the two other Spider-Men helped him in Spider-Man: No Way Home. The article notes many fans feel he has leaned on mentors too often and want to see him handle a threat on his own for once, which is why a rumored Daredevil mentor reportedly frustrates some viewers.

Has Charlie Cox’s Daredevil appeared in a Spider-Man movie before?

Yes. Charlie Cox’s Matt Murdock had a brief cameo in Spider-Man: No Way Home, acting as Peter’s lawyer after his identity was exposed and hinting at his abilities by catching a brick thrown through a window. Any Spider-Man 4 appearance would be a rumored second outing alongside Tom Holland, not a confirmed one.
