Hugh Grant’s Fear About His Impending Death Puts a Damper on His Career as a Fiction Novelist: “I’ll die unsatisfied and miserable”
Among the most well-known actors in Hollywood is Hugh Grant. Early on in his career, he was the go-to actor for romantic comedies and love stories owing to his charming good looks. The British actor was last seen in Wonka, a fantastical story about the chocolatier Willy Wonka, a fictional character created by Roald Dahl. However, in a recent interview Grant expressed his desire to be an author.
Hugh Grant Wants To Write Fiction
From Notting Hill to Bridget Jones’s Diary, Hugh Grant was the poster boy for romcoms in the 90s and 2000s. In modern cinema, he is diversifying and trying on more versatile roles to display his full range. While promoting Wonka on The Drew Barrymore Show, the host asked Grant what is something he is yet to achieve in his life both personally and professionally. To this, he claimed that he is very fulfilled in his personal life with a lovely wife and kids, saying he’s “very happily married with lovely children.” On the professional front, he might remain unsatisfied because he has not gotten the time to finish his half-written fiction novel.
“I want to finish that book. I have written half a novel.”
Drew Barrymore then asked how will he find the time to finish the novel since he is such an accomplished actor. In his signature dry wit, Grant responded, “Well, I won’t ever and then I’ll die unfulfilled and miserable.” Seems like Grant wants to add another feather to his cap and be a fiction author before he dies. There have been no announcements on the title of the book or its plot, we can only wait and see what Grant comes up with.
Given his diverse legacy of work in Hollywood, Grant seems like the perfect person to conjure stories that will delight his fans. After impersonating so many characters on screen, it is only understandable that an actor feels pulled towards creating their own world and writing their own stories. Hugh Grant stans will surely love a fiction novel by the actor that gives them a glimpse into his thought process and world-building.

Other Actors Turned Authors
Many prominent Hollywood actors have gone on to pick up the pen and publish a plethora of stories. Tom Hanks, for instance, published a collection of short stories in 2017 under the title Uncommon Type: Some Stories. The beloved Leia from Star Wars, Carrie Fisher authored the book Surrender the Pink among her other semi-autobiographical books.
Hillary Duff, Steve Martin, and Ethan Hawke are some other actors who have successfully penned stories and published books. If not authors, many actors also go on to write screenplays for movies to have their work eternalized on screen.
