Hugh Jackman is worrying fans amid his new skin scare. The Wolverine star recently underwent two biopsies for skin cancer following years of treatment for basal cell carcinoma. The man who holds the Guinness World Record for “longest career as a live-action Marvel character” shared a video wherein he urged his fans to use sunscreen, revealing that his skin problems developed 25 years back.

In his video, Jackman also talked about undergoing treatment for basal cell carcinomas for years. But again, he assured his fans that the condition can be easily treated. As he shared this video, fans raised concerns about the fate of his acting career. Moreover, everyone wants to know what the future of Deadpool 3 looks like. Jackman has undoubtedly struggled with several health issues over the years. Here’s all you need to know.

What Happened To Hugh Jackman?

Hugh Jackman may be a tough guy on screen, but in his personal life, the Australian actor has suffered several health issues. Majorly, the 54-year-old actor has faced skin cancer several times. He was first diagnosed with the condition in 2013. In 2021, Jackman, best known as Wolverine in the X-Men film franchise, got a cancerous lesion removed from his nose.

Despite the condition, he shared a positive caption with his fans wherein he wrote, “I know you’ve heard me talk about my basal cell carcinomas before. I’m going to keep talking about them if need be. And if it reminds even one person to put on sunscreen with a high SPF, then I’m happy.”

As of 2023, Hugh Jackman has been diagnosed six times with skin cancer! Recently, Hugh took to social media and discussed undergoing two biopsies in a video. The Grammy Award-winning star was seen wearing a plaster on his nose, and was heard saying: “I wanted you to hear it from me,  I’ve just had two biopsies done.”

Jackman revealed that his “awesome” doctor found little things. He said, “Could be or could not be basal cell. In her opinion, she doesn’t know. I’ll find out in two or three days and as soon as I know, I’ll let you know.” Jackman has been a practitioner of Transcendental Meditation since he was 20. He also helps an NGO to “bring meditation to PTSD sufferers to inner-city kids”.

Hugh Jackman enlightened his fans by admitting that his skin cancer was a result of the “stuff that happened 25 years ago [that] is coming out now. Put some sunscreen on. You’ll still have an incredible time out there. All right. Please be safe.” Jackman is still awaiting his biopsy results, but like always, he had some advice for his beloved fans.

He remained his fans that basal cells are the least dangerous ones when it comes to skin cancer. He said, “However, if I can just take this opportunity to remind you, summer is coming. For those of us here in the Northern Hemisphere, please wear sunscreen. It is just not worth it. No matter how much you want a tan. Trust me.”

Does This Threaten Hugh Jackman’s Acting Career?

If you aren’t aware, basal cell carcinoma requires surgery as a primary treatment. The NHS website reveals that at least nine out of 10 non-melanoma skin cancer cases have been successfully cured. This is one reason why the Australian star sounded so affirmative in his video.

As for the much-awaited movie, Deadpool 3, we do not think there would be a major delay in its shooting. Jackman announced his return as Wolverine last year. However, he did put an important condition on Ryan Reynolds. The Canadian actor previously appeared in Jimmy Fallon’s show and revealed:

“Yes, yes I am very excited about it. It’s kind of amazing. Yeah he’s bringing in Wolverine. We figured out a way to do it that’s Hugh Jackman approved and Kevin Feige approved, where we’re completely protecting the legacy of ‘Logan’, the way it was left off. We wouldn’t mess with that”

Coming back to Jackman’s health status, it is obvious that one will have to wait for the biopsy report results. But again, Jackman surely plans to make a comeback, and his fans hope for the same. Even though his career seems in shambles, there is no reason Hugh Jackman is giving up yet. And what would be Deadpool 3 like without Wolverine?
