- Despite the allegations, Fassbender has continued to maintain a successful acting career.
The entertainment industry is an intense environment where celebs are often surrounded by different opinions and emotions. A single moment can change a celebrity’s reputation and their public narrative depending on their reaction.
Michael Fassbender is an accomplished actor with a different kind of filmography. However, the actor has faced his fair share of controversies and rumors, and his reported behavior in an earlier interview shows how actors have to be careful with their public interaction.
Michael Fassbender’s allegedly mean interview
Michael Fassbender’s run in Hollywood so far has been remarkable. He was born to an Irish woman and a German father, and the family moved to Ireland when he was a kid, and over time he started his career as an actor. His big role came in films like Hunger in 2008, but he got his global fame as Magneto in the X-Men series.
On the other hand, Kjersti Flaa, an entertainment reporter in Los Angeles, shared a rather peculiar story of meeting the actor, which shows the unpredictable nature of celebrity interactions.
Flaa interviewed Fassbender for the first time during his Alien: Covenant promotions. In her recent YouTube interview, she revealed that she initially found him incredibly charming, saying, “He was the most charming. I was like, ‘Oh my God he’s so sexy’.”
However, their next meeting described quite a different scenario. Flaa added further,
He was just like so charming and flirtatious in our interview and I was like, ‘Next time I met him we gonna catch up again.’ And then he was so mean..and I was like…it was awful. So then I thought, ‘Okay, I can’t take this personally.’ Because I’m still the same person as I was at the time I interviewed him he is just in a terrible mood.
However, Flaa acknowledged that everyone has their good and bad days. She understood that sometimes a bad call or text can ruin anyone’s day, and the person sitting next to him or her has to suffer a bitter mood sometimes.
Flaa admitted that Fassbender “was looking at his phone” when she entered the room and also felt that such a brief moment or interaction can’t define the entire personality of that person or celebrity.
Michael Fassbender’s history of controversies
Apart from Flaa’s reported interview, Fassbender’s career has not been without rumors and controversies. According to The Sun (via Page Six), during the after-party in A Dangerous Method there were rumors that he was asked to leave the place because of his behavior.
The Sun quoted that he was “grabbing co-stars” and was smoking a cigarette inside the room, which made others uncomfortable. Other than this, there were more serious controversies that Fassbender became a part of.
Fassbender was earlier accused of domestic violence. According to The Daily Beast, his ex-girlfriend Sunawin ‘Leasi’ Andrews filed a restraining order in 2010 with accusations of physical violence. According to the reports, the relationship Andrews had with Fassbender was abusive and led to severe injuries.
One misconduct claim was that Fassbender reportedly dragged Andrews outside his car after he got upset due to her interaction with one of her ex-boyfriends. Another alleged event took place at a film festival when Fassbender allegedly threw a chair at Andrews.
However, all these have been allegations, and Fassbender never made any public comment about them. According to The Mercury News, Andrews later withdrew her petition, which settled the case.
Nevertheless, Fassbender has kept up his career as an actor considering his performances. He has received two Academy Award nominations for 12 Years a Slave and Steve Jobs and recently appeared in Kneecap and The Agency.
