“I can’t wait to see where we go from here”: Mark Consuelos Defends Brutal ‘Live’ Debut With Kelly Ripa After Ryan Seacrest’s Departure
Mark Consuelos recently joined his wife Kelly Ripa as a co-host on Live! after the departure of Ryan Seacrest. It was quite a big shoe to fill since the show had been on the air for decades, with a devoted fan base and a long list of past co-hosts. Therefore, his first day of taking on his new role was quite nervewracking but also surreal for him as he was working alongside his wife.
In short, his first day at work was filled with mixed emotions, and turns out so were the fans after the first episode with the new co-host aired. This became evident after the reviews came in. The show did not do so well after Seacrest left, review-wise. Therefore, in an exclusive interview with Us Weekly, the actor and model, shared his thoughts on the situation.
Mark Consuelos is optimistic despite “brutal” reviews
Mark Consuelos officially debuted as a morning talk show host on Live! on April 17th and some fans aren’t as thrilled as he is. As soon as the episode finished airing the viewers took to Twitter to voice their opinion. Many accused them of “fake banter” while others pointed out how much Kelly Ripa was trying to cover for Consulos’ nervousness by talking over him. They wrote,
“I am so happy to see Mark & Kelly this morning….But Kelly could PLEASE LET HIM TALK….!!! OMG…! Let him start and finish a story his way…It’s the only way it’s going work,”
All these moments resulted in a not-so-fun watching experience. As one Twitter user claimed,
“Bruuuutal! Last time i watch. I can go to the mall and watch teenagers kiss LESS!!! THE BEGINNING OF THE END,”
Thus, to address all these things the actor shared his exclusive take on Us Weekly. He said,
“I can’t wait to see where we can go from here,”
Previously the Riverdale alum also spoke about the responsibilities he was about to shoulder,
“I know I have some big shoes to fill … well actually they’re only a size 9, but you know what I mean,”
This above comment was a joke in reference to Seacrest’s height, the two are also very close friends off-camera. In a statement to the press, he also said,
“I’m having a blast. It’s such a fun show to be a part of, and I feel lucky to have this opportunity.”
For Consuelos, the experience of co-hosting Live! has been a rewarding one. He has enjoyed the chance to connect with viewers and share his personality with a wider audience.

He also added,
“Kelly and I have always [felt] the most [at] ease when we’re together and I feel so lucky we get to do that daily.”
