Actor Brandon Sklenar, who plays Spencer Dutton on the show, recently appeared on CBS Mornings, where he opened up about the challenges his character faces in the second and the final season of 1923.
Sklenar said,
You’re kind of giving glimpses into what Spencer’s capable of, what demons he’s sort of running from, and what he’s fighting for. And I think Taylor Sheridan lets the cat out of the bag in Season 2.
1923’s season two finale is how the series is going to reach its conclusion, and during the interview, Sklenar was asked about how the series is going to end. To which he recalled and said while making sure not to give any spoilers for the upcoming season.
I couldn’t even prep it without tissues in my hand. It’s so beautiful the way he [Sheridan] wraps up the second season, and it’s just profoundly beautiful, and the way he ties in the love story with Spencer’s journey and just the culmination of all those arcs.
Back in 2024, during a conversation with People, Brandon Sklenar shared that 1923’s season two finale is the best thing he’s read in his life. He added that he could confidently say that season two is going to be absolutely incredible. He shared at the time that the tone in season two shifts a lot, and it’s a bit darker yet very beautiful.
Helen Mirren and Harrison Ford play Spencer Dutton’s parents on the show, about which Sklenar had shared that he spent a lot of time with the legendary actors, which is going to be special for him.

Reddit users took to their accounts to share their theories about the show, stating, ‘Based on the episodes above [spoiler picture], Spencer doesn’t make it until the last episode, and Spencer and Alex are apart the entire season.’
A user commented, ‘This is really a repeat of season one, ‘How is Spencer getting home?’ When the tension should come from him being there as something new. It has been reported that Spencer Dutton does not reunite with his love until the very end of the series.
