“I do not make those decisions”: Cobie Smulders Returns to Marvel After the Saddening End to Maria Hill in ‘Secret Invasion’
With its unexpected character cameos and twists, the Marvel Cinematic Universe never fails to astound fans. In the first episode of Marvel’s eagerly anticipated Secret Invasion, which debuted on Disney+ recently and starred Samuel L. Jackson as the lead, viewers saw Cobie Smulders’ portrayal of Maria Hill come to an end.
The actress has now made a hint that her character might not be gone for a very long time, despite the character’s shocking and heartbreaking death on the show. One of the MCU’s most adored characters, Maria Hill serves as Nick Furry’s right-hand woman while also being a formidable individual in her own right.

Cobie Smulders’ Maria Hill will return to the MCU
the SecretDuring a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, actress Cobie Smulders, who plays Maria Hill in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, was asked about Hill’s future in the MCU, especially after a devastating death in Secret Invasion starring Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Furry. She said,
“I mean, I do not make those decisions. I’m still working on [Disney Channel’s] Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur animated show — I literally recorded some episodes today. So I have no idea how or when she’s going to come back around to me, but I’m always welcoming the call.”
According to reports, this won’t be the first time that Hill would appear on Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur as she lent her voice to the character for an episode that aired in April. She had mentioned that the animated program excited her, especially after she found out that a character like Lunella Lafayette was leading her series.
Smulders said at the time, “Maria is coming into this place where she can be a guide. The idea that we get to see another strong, powerful, young woman leading this story is very exciting.”
Cobie Smulders hopeful for Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur inspiring young kids
The actress who is excited about the animated show to premiere shared that she feels and is hopeful that the show will turn out to be something like an inspiration for young children to watch and motivate them to go on to write their own stories.
She said, “When kids watch animation they’re able to connect with this type of a program because it’s something that they can do to draw, to write their own stories, to write their own songs. Animation had such a huge impact on me in my life.”
Smulders continued as she looked back in her time and explained, “All of the early Disney movies, so my hope is that watching the show just inspires kids and I can’t believe that I get to play a small part in it. It’s really exciting and it makes me feel like a really cool mom.”
During the interview with EW, she was asked if she could give the fans a hint of her return towards the end of the Secret Invasion, to which she said that she is not going to answer that, adding that she has no idea what the makers decided to do with the end of the show.

Cobie Smulders on her favorite MCU moment
The actress looked back in time as she was asked what would be her favorite MCU favorite moment if someone asked her, to which she said that her time on Captain America: The Winter Soldier is what she enjoyed the most because she loved how her character was able to break into the armored car and save a lot of Avengers.
She also pointed out, “The opportunities that I’ve had to do my own stunts and be, funny have been lovely, but really, my favorite moments have just been the people I’ve been able to meet and befriend over the years.” The actress has expressed her gratitude towards the audience for loving her character, who was initially a sub-character but eventually grew into a strong one who had a hold in the MCU which is why her loss was saddening for everyone.
Cobie Smulders lastly noted that her only hope is that the fans continue to experience the MCU in a way that makes them happy, adding that it has been so wonderful to be privy to that type of energy.
