“I don’t audition for a ton of things”: Justice League Star Ray Fisher Has No Idea What His Next Project Will be after Rebel Moon
Since movies and shows take a long time in production, actors are signed on in advance to start preparing and shooting for the projects. While some actors plan their yearly schedule well in advance, some like to take life as it comes. It seems like Ray Fisher is one of the latter-category actors. After appearing in Zack Snyder’s latest grand spectacle Rebel Moon, a sci-fi epic that will be released in two parts, Fisher is still figuring out where his career will take him next.
Ray Fisher’s Next Project
Considering Ray Fisher does not plan his schedule like many other actors, he is taking his time to decide on the next roles to take on. In an exclusive conversation with Discussing Film, the actor shared his experience working with Zack Snyder again, his prospects, and how he tackles stunt work. Talking about his future work in movies and TV shows, Fisher said,
“I don’t think that far ahead. Usually, when I do a project, I like to wait a bit and see how it sits on me once the piece comes out. I’ve given it some time to deeply review the process that I went through. The big thing that I tell everybody is… I’ll know the next thing when I see it. I’ll know when I feel it. I move with my heart and my intuition when it comes to this. Thankfully, it has not steered me in the wrong direction so far. It gets a little bit frustrating for the reps sometimes because I don’t audition for a ton of things. I only go after the things I feel passionate about.”
It is incredible to see actors focus on their work rather than running after success and money. When an industry is steered by passion and love for the craft, the audience is bound to see some magnificent projects come out. Fisher’s character in Rebel Moon focuses on rebellion and the idea of standing for justice. He wants his fans to take the movie in the intended spirit and enjoy the work they have put into it.
Ray Fisher in Zack Snyder Movies
Fisher has been a part of various Zack Snyder projects. While the two share a common vision for their movies, it seems like their chemistry helps them deliver movies that truly move the audience. Fisher played Cyborg in Snyder’s DC universe. Initially, his character appeared only as a cameo in the Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice movie. He later secured a lead role in Justice League and now in Rebel Moon. Fisher clarifies, “Zack works with a lot of the same folks time and again because they do great work. He trusts them and it creates a shorthand that makes the work that much more efficient.”
Many directors have their favorite actors or people they are most comfortable working with. It helps if the director and the actor have a shared vision to bring it alive on screen. Furthermore, in more experimental movies where success is not guaranteed, the director and the actors need to be on the same page and understand the synergies on set.
