Zack Snyder admits the director’s cut is ‘close to an hour of extra content’

Zack Snyder‘s Rebel Moon stars Sofia Boutella, Charlie Hunnam, Michiel Huisman, and Ray Fisher. The director ahead of the release had stated that he was already planning a longer version of the movie, which is about an hour extra of the additional footage. The movie is scheduled to release on Netflix on 21st December 2023 and is being split into two parts with the second part scheduled for a release in 2024.

Snyder explained on Netflix’s PR Site;

“The Rebel Moon’s director’s cut is close to an hour of extra content, so I think it’s a legitimate extended universe version. You really get to see a lot. It’s just more painted-in all the way. The director’s cut is a settle-in deep dive, which I have notoriously done throughout my craeer. I don’t know how I got into this director’s cut thing, but what I will say about it is that, for me, the director’s cuts have always been something I had t fight for in the past and nobody wanted it.”

He continued,

“With Netflix, we shot scenes just for director’s cut. So in that way, it’s really a revelation because it gives that second kick at the can for big fans, like a real discovery that they would not get.”

The director effectively said that he was excited for the audience to see the director’s cut.

According to ScreenRant, some viewers criticized the movie for cutting some scenes, which they believed were going to be a part of the director’s cut. They pointed out that the director had revealed earlier that he shot especially for the director’s cut which generally never happens.
