“I don’t know what studio would ever approve that?”: Mr. 3 in One Piece was Never David Dastmalchian’s Dream Anime Role But an Underrated Vampire Anime is
For One Piece season 2, some casting information has surfaced, indicating that a new cast member will breathe fresh life into a beloved One Piece villain. According to a Netflix analysis, One Piece season 1, which debuted at the end of August 2023, was the most-viewed series on the streaming service in the second half of the year.
The pressure is on the show to keep up its high standard as everyone is looking forward to season 2. Thankfully, the season 2 cast announcements that have been made thus far are encouraging.
David Dastmalchian, who is well-known for playing DC villains, has been cast as Mr. 3, a villain from One Piece. To fully capitalize on this great casting, Mr. 3’s role should be increased in the program. Actors like Dastmalchian’s involvement in the project is not surprising given how well-received One Piece season 1 was on Netflix.
This is good news for Mr. 3, the villain whose hair humorously twists to spell his name and changes shape to convey his emotions. Little Garden is Mr. 3’s arc, even if it’s not the most popular among fans, therefore this sound casting will help.
David Dastmalchian Is Interested In Being Cast As Sebastian Michaelis
David Dastmalchian is known for his performances in films like The Dark Knight, The Suicide Squad, Dune, and Late Night with the Devil. Interestingly, he is also a huge anime fan.
In a video snippet that has gone viral from an earlier interview with Crunchyroll Presents: The Anime Effect. Dastmalchian talked about his career in which he played a variety of diverse characters.
He was questioned about whether his passion for anime affected the way he acted. In response, he said that because anime differs greatly from Western entertainment, he had not had many opportunities to investigate its distinct storytelling and performing style. He did, however, express his excitement to participate in upcoming anime adaptations, saying he welcomes any chance to push himself.
Dastmalchian also discussed the exaggerated facial expressions and actions of anime characters, drawing parallels with an early form of Italian theater, commedia dell’arte. It is with exploring fatherhood, especially, that he has found an opportunity to explore new anime as well, although his favorites seem to be Vampire Hunter D and Black Butler. He said:
I really do want to play Sebastian. I don’t know what studio would ever approve of that because that show is whack…
Given his desire to play such dark anime characters and all the characters he has played in the past, it is not difficult to imagine Dastmalchian excelling in these roles.
One Piece Fans Are Delighted After Watching David Dastmalchian’s Old Interview
