Wrestler turned action star, John Cena gained worldwide acclaim as an actor with his performance in the Fast & Furious franchise. In 2021, he made his superhero debut as Christopher Smith/Peacemaker in James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad. While working on the movie, Gunn began writing a spin-off series with John Cena as the lead. The series was released in 2022 as a part of the DCEU.

By the end of that year, Gunn and Peter Safran took over the franchise as the co-chairmen and co-CEO of the DC Studios. It was announced that DC would be getting a reboot. Consequently, season 2 of the Peacemaker series will now be a part of this new DCU with John Cena playing the lead hero. However, there is no telling whether or not Cena will show up in any other projects of the franchise as his recent answer regarding this gives away nothing.

For years, John Cena was known as one of the best wrestlers in the world. However, that changed when he began pursuing his acting career in earnest and gained fame for more than his wrestling talents. Getting his own series in a franchise as huge as DC certainly looks good on his resume.

Fans have often wondered if his character Peacemaker will make cameos in other projects that James Gunn is helming. During a recent appearance at Comicpalooza, Cena refused to make any comment regarding this to avoid risking the Guardians of the Galaxy director angry.

In a video shared on X by the user Home of DCU, he can be seen jokingly saying:

Do you know who James Gunn is? He’s got this look when you make him mad. And it’s actually indescribable, but I don’t want to see it ever again. So I’m just gonna say… no comment.

While fans still do not have an answer to the WWE star’s appearance in other projects, they certainly know that they do not wish to encounter an angry Gunn in person.

Cena is confirmed to be returning for Peacemaker Season 2, which has even begun filming according to an Instagram post that Gunn shared last month. Even so, fans are curious to know whether or not he will make cameos.

During his appearance at the premiere of The Iron Claw, Cena was asked by Variety about his future in a reset DCU. He expressed his hopes of getting the chance to have more of Christopher Smith.

Man, I hope we see more Peacemaker. I sure as hell had a fun time doing that. I know they’re shifting around some things around over at DC, but I know that James Gunn’s made some statements that we’re going in for season 2, and what he says usually he does.

Well, Gunn is doing what he said, but fans are eager to hear more about what he intends to do. Hopefully, Cena’s appearance will not be limited to this new season.

Peacemaker is available for streaming on Max.
