“I expected her to be this big s-x vixen”: Leonardo DiCaprio Was Surprised After Meeting ‘90s Sex Symbol Sharon Stone After Her Basic Instinct Stardom
Leonardo DiCaprio needs no introduction as the talented American actor’s work speaks for him. Despite being the shining star DiCaprio is today, there was once a time when he struggled to be the filmmaker’s first preference or worthy enough for them to invest in him. But then, with the passing of time not only did he make great films but also earned some invaluable friendships in the industry.
Leonardo DiCaprio Did Not Enjoy Kissing Sharon Stone In The Quick And The Dead
Actress Sharon Stone had to set a strong foot in order to have Leonardo DiCaprio for The Quick and The Dead. In fact, the Basic Instinct star was so impressed with DiCaprio’s audition that she was adamant about having him in the movie. She even went on to pay him from her own pocket as the makers were reluctant to pay him and opt for a bigger name instead.
It was Leonardo DiCaprio‘s first-hand experience of working with Stone, but DiCaprio admitted that when he saw Sharon Stone in front of him, she was way different than what he had envisioned her to be. Talking to The Morning Call, DiCaprio said, “I expected her to be this big s-x vixen, seducing everyone. But she was sweet.”
Further touching upon his experience of kissing the bold actress, Sharon Stone, DiCaprio shared that he did not live up to his initial expectations. DiCaprio described the experience saying, “To tell you the truth, it wasn’t that great. She grabbed me by the back of my hair and pushed her lips on mine and then threw my head away. It didn’t feel like a real kiss.” It might be because DiCaprio always had a huge crush on Stone, as stated by his close friends, and the thoughts got in their way of having a passionate on-screen kiss.
DiCaprio And Russell Crowe’s Friendship Began On The Sets Of The Quick and The Dead
Leonardo DiCaprio hit the chords instantly with The Quick and The Dead co-actor, Russell Crowe while working on the sets of the film. At the time of making of the movie both the actors were in a nascent stage of their Hollywood journey and were carving out a path to fulfill their acting aspirations. These common grounds sparked the instant friendship between DiCaprio and the future Gladiator.
Elaborating on their journey of friendship, DiCaprio once told Digital Spy, “We kind of forged a friendship there because we didn’t know where to fit in. We didn’t belong to the character actor group or the movie star group and I remember talking to him a lot about movies back then, the type of actor he wanted to be, the type of films he liked.”
Years later, DiCaprio again shared, “He’s the same guy that he was back then,” he shared. “Incredibly funny, committed to his work, great to be around. I have nothing but great things to say about him and I was happy to reunite with him on this movie.”
The two are happy to see that their bond of friendship remains the same.
