“I feel very proud”: Zendaya Lied On Her Acting Debut Before Getting Spider-Man Fame With Boyfriend Tom Holland
Zendaya made her television debut in 2010 with the Disney Channel sitcom Shake It Up in which she played the role of Rocky Blue. Her feature film debut came along years later with her role as Michelle Jones-Watson in the superhero movie Spider-Man: Homecoming. She has won numerous accolades including two Primetime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series.
Most Hollywood actors have a history of portraying characters in plays in their school days. Zendaya recently appeared in an Ask Me Anything interview with Elle in which she answered some of the most interesting questions including one about her first acting debut.
Zendaya Is Proud Of Her Acting Debut
Zendaya is one of the most popular actors in the world, thanks to her portrayal of Spider-Man’s girlfriend in the Spider-Man franchise that stars British actor Tom Holland as the titular character. However, her first acting role was not nearly as phenomenal as the ones she has been doing lately.
In the Ask Me Anything interview with Elle, Zendaya was asked about her earliest memory of performing. She replied, saying:
“My earliest memory of performing was there was like a school play I auditioned for. I was incredibly shy, so I’m proud of myself for even trying to audition. I must’ve been like seven or eight years old. It was ‘James and the Giant Peach’. I got a non-speaking role. I was the silkworm which means that I literally laid on the stage and did absolutely nothing because the silkworm doesn’t speak! But, you know, I feel very proud of that still to this day. So that was my first role.”

The Spiderman: No Way Home actress also said that there is no such thing as small roles and she is right to be very proud of herself considering that she was a shy kid. She has had a remarkable journey from having a non-speaking role in a stage play to being a part of one of the most popular franchises.
Zendaya Has Come A Long Way In Show Business
Besides being an amazing actor, the Smallfoot star is also an excellent vocalist. Her biggest achievement as a singer was the song Rewrite The Stars from the biographical musical drama The Greatest Showman. She starred in the film alongside Zac Efron, who also sang with her on the soundtrack.
The Malcolm and Marie actress starred in the HBO series Euphoria which garnered great critical appraisal. In the series, the actress played the lead role of a 17-year-old drug addict named Rue Bennett. Additionally, she has also starred in the blockbuster film Dune which features Oscar-nominated actor Timothee Chalamet. As of recent, she is set to star in the sports drama Challengers which she will also be producing.
