“I forgot five days of my life”: 65-Year-Old Madonna Did Not Think She Would Survive Her Recent Health Scare

Madonna gets emotional while sharing a near-death experience with fans
Singer Madonna’s Celebration Tour kicked off in London on October 14th at the O2 Arena in Greenwich where, during one of her performances, the Queen of Pop got emotional and shared with fans that she lost her memory for five days during her health scare. She said via Daily Mail,
“I didn’t think I would make it, and neither did my doctors. That’s why I woke up with all of my children sitting around me. I forgot five days of my life, or my death. I don’t really know where I was. But the angels were protecting me. And my children were there. And my children always save me, every time.”
The singer further expressed her gratitude to her children for supporting her by adding that if someone wants to know how she pulled herself out through her health scare and how she survived, then it was because she thought she needed to be there for her children, adding that she needed to survive for them.
It was reported in June that the 65-year-old songstress was rushed to hospital with a serious bacterial infection and ended up in intensive care. Her talent manager, Guy Oseary, at the time, said via Unilad,
“On Saturday June 24, Madonna developed a serious bacterial infection which led to a several-day stay in the ICU. Her health is improving, but she is still under medical care. A full recovery is expected. At this time we will need to pause all commitments, which includes the tour. We will share more details with you as soon as we have them, including a new start date for the tour and for rescheduled shows.”
She then led the crowd in a sing-along of Gloria Gaynor’s I Will Survive.
How is Madonna’s health now?
According to a source via Ok Magazine, the singer resumed rehearsals for her Celebration Tour after being in the ICU under observation for several days. They said at the time,
“She is very much still in recovery, but Madonna has been chomping at the bit to get back to rehearsals. Not only has she hired the Coliseum in New York, but she’s also hired out a second venue in London for the final week of dress rehearsals.”
The songstress during her performance at the O2 Arena also took some time to thank her fans and expressed her deepest gratitude for their support following her treatment for acute septic shock. She said via Yahoo,
“Oh my god, it’s so good to be back in London. I am pretty damn surprised I made it this far. I mean this on so many levels. How did I make it this far? Because of you. But I will take a bit of credit too. It’s so nice to see you again and be back. I will tell you my life story but through music.”
Madonna appeared to be in good spirits while performing for the audience.
Madonna gets candid with fans while sharing her past
During the performance, because of a technical glitch, the show was at a halt for 10 minutes and during that halt, Madonna decided to share a candid confession with her fans who had been there for her. She said via Daily Mail ,
“I was broke and homeless and hungry but I was not about to go back cos I’m not a quitter. So I decided to become a musician. I had no money to take a bath or a shower, so I would actually date men who had showers and bathrooms. I’d surreptitiously sneak into the conversation, ‘So… do you live alone?’ And they would say yes usually… And I said, ‘Do you have a bathroom or a shower?’ And they’d also nod and look at me like I was a crazy person and I’d say, ‘Let’s get some dinner!”
The singer did not hesitate to comment on the ongoing Israel and Palestine situation, stating that her heart breaks to see children suffering, teenagers suffering, elderly people suffering, adding that all of this is so heartbreaking.
