“I got this”: Meryl Streep Did the Sweetest Thing to Save Ryan Gosling’s Mom from an Embarrassing Hairdo
Meryl Streep may have been the haughty Hollywood diva in movies like Death Becomes Her or The Devil Wears Prada, but she is the Hollywood sweetheart in real life. This Hollywood veteran has no pride or ego when it comes to praising the work of her fellow industry mates or helping someone out, despite being on the receiving end of a record 21 Academy Award nominations, winning three, and a record 33 Golden Globe Award nominations, winning eight. Meryl Streep is often described as “the best actress of her generation,” and she proved herself to be one of the best human beings as well.
Ryan Gosling was once lucky enough to encounter Streep’s sweet and grounded nature when he enlisted her help to make his mother feel better about her hairdo and she happily obliged.
Meryl Streep made Ryan Gosling’s mother feel better about herself at the 2007 Oscars
When Ryan Gosling wanted his mother to feel better at the 2007 Oscars, he knew who would help him in a heartbeat. The Barbie star recalled the year he had taken his mother Donna and sister Mandi to the Oscars on The Graham Norton Show. That year, Gosling had earned a nomination for Best Actor for his role in Half Nelson. However, for half the evening, he was worried about making his mom feel better about herself due to an embarrassing hairdo.
“My mom was convinced by her friend that beehives were gonna be all the rage. And if you didn’t have a beehive, you’d feel embarrassed. And it turned out to be the opposite. It was a natural hair vibe that year. And my mom sat in front of Rachel Weisz and her hair was so high that Rachel had to keep [mimics Weisz leaning to see in front of his mom’s beehive] and my mom kept sinking in her chair and I didn’t know what to do ’cause I was — I wanted to have a nice night.”
It made Gosling feel really bad that her mother was self-conscious and uneasy and could not enjoy the big night. So he desperately looked for help and lo and behold, he found out he was sitting next to none other than Meryl Streep. During the commercial break, he asked for her help, and Streep, like a true champ, assured Gosling, saying,
“I got this.”
Then she proceeded to tell his mother,
“Do you know, I was gonna do a beehive and I wish I had.”
In the words of Gosling, “And my mom was like, raise the roof all night.” When Emma Stone asked if his mother knew about the story, Gosling said no, and he did not seem particularly worried about her finding out since she does not watch the show.
Meryl Streep is allegedly dating a co-star after announcing the end of a 45-year-old marriage
It seems like Mamma Mia! star Meryl Streep has found love again after the end of her 45-year-old marriage. She was seen being close to comic actor Martin Short, with whom she recently starred in the US TV series Only Murders in the Building. They posed for a dashing picture together weeks after the rumor mill started going.
A source close to them told The Sun that both of them are enjoying each other’s company away from the prying eyes of the media and it is the early days.
“Meryl and Martin are enjoying each other’s company. There’s no pressure. They spend time together and get on well. It’s early days. Both of them are private about their personal lives so they aren’t about to flaunt their romance in front of the world. But they are happy.”
Although a representative for Martin Short denied all the rumors and insisted that they were only “good friends,” fans are giddily anticipating a romance between the iconic Hollywood queen and the beloved actor.
One can hope that Meryl Streep finds happiness in whoever she chooses to spend her time with. After all, such a wholesome woman deserves all the love in the world.
