However, since the former employee Janel Grant’s jolting allegations, followed by McMahon resigning from his position as executive chairman of the board of directors at WWE’s parent company, and controversies surrounding him, Hart has made it clear about having zero respect for Vince McMahon. According to Slate, he said:
“I think, despite all of the issues I ever had with Vince, I know, deep down, I always respected him; but now, knowing what kind of a weirdo he became, I have absolutely zero respect for him.”
The Hitman, after labeling McMahon as a “weirdo,” also mentioned that after all that has happened, he will never be able to greet or shake hands with the former chairman. Hart called it “too creepy” if Vince McMahon ever tries to initiate a firm handshake. The former wrestler also revealed that this isn’t the first time he has witnessed the a*use of women in the business, saying that “it’s everywhere in [WWE].”
Bret Hart Used To Acknowledge Vince McMahon as his Father-Figure
Before Bret Hart lost respect for Vince McMahon, he was previously mistreated by the former chairman. According to the same outlet, the renowned figure was immensely humiliated in front of millions of fans when McMahon flipped the script without letting Hart know about it.
This incident occurred in 1997 when Bret Hart asked McMahon to just make his exit memorable. But unexpectedly, he made it one of the most embarrassing moments in his life, later being called “The Montreal Screwjob.” However, Hart’s loyalty remained constant even after his brother was killed after performing a life-threatening zipline stunt.
Despite the ups and downs, Hart called McMahon a “father figure” to him until his respect was all gone and buried. The time-honored wrestler now has nothing to feel about Vince McMahon, whom he kept trusting after every mistreatment in his wrestling career.
