In a recent interview with Town & Country, actress Kelly Reilly, who is known for her exceptional work on Yellowstone as Beth Dutton, shared that when she signed in for the project, she had no idea if she could pull the character off. She said that when she got the part of Beth, she didn’t have it in her, and she couldn’t figure out who she was.
But the actress also noted that Beth Dutton comes off so powerfully on paper that she didn’t know if she’d be able to pull her off on-screen. But when she was driving from Salt Lake City to Montana, during the ride on an open road, she felt a sense of freedom in her character, after which she believed that she could see where her character was going.
During the conversation, the actress shared that nobody from the cast and crew of Yellowstone had imagined how big the show would be. She added that it was incredible, and it sort of led on to the other stories, the origin stories, and then to 1923, which is beautifully shot. Yellowstone star Luke Grimes addresses the negative response to Season 5, Part B
Luke Grimes, who plays Kayce Dutton on the show, recently spoke to People and addressed the negative response the show’s final season’s part two is getting. The response is negative from the audience after the makers decided to end Kevin Costner’s character abruptly on the show after the actor decided to quit. Grimes explained,
The actor noted that it was always going to be that the kids could do it on their own if they lost the patriarch of the family. He goes on to reveal that according to him, John Dutton’s character was supposed to die much earlier in the story, so in that way, the makers got way more of John Dutton than they had planned.
Grimes goes into detail that the death of such a significant character on the show adds to the authenticity of the drama. He explained that John Dutton’s death was so sudden, pointing out that it shows how life works, adding that when one loses a parent, it sometimes happens when one is not prepared.
Kevin Costner played the character from 2018 until the November 10, 2024, episode. He decided to quit the show and focus on his passion project, Horizon: An American Saga. He shared that he is very proud of the show, and he loves how the audience has embraced the show.
