“I have no idea what happens in these episodes”: Julia Louis-Dreyfus’ Bold Revelation About ‘Seinfeld’ Shows She’s Worlds Apart From Other Celebrities
- Award-winning TV actress Julia Louis-Dreyfus is popular for her work on SNL, Seinfeld and Veep.
- She admitted in an interview that she does not remember anything about Seinfeld.
- Unlike her, some actors remember their work from years ago, but there are also some on the same boat as her.
Julia Louis-Dreyfus is considered one of the greatest performers in television history, thanks to her exceptional contributions to TV shows like Seinfeld, The New Adventures of Old Christine, and Veep. Not to mention her different characters in late-night live sketch comedy show Saturday Night Live.
Despite having worked on Seinfeld for almost a decade, the actress once admitted to having little recollection of herself shooting the show. Having been in the industry for so long and given many performances, it seems understandable that she barely remembers scenes from the show.
Julia Louis-Dreyfus Admitted That She Does Not Really Remember Being on Seinfeld
Julia Louis-Dreyfus comes from an influential family, but she chose to forge a path of her own by choosing to become an entertainer. She dropped out of University to take up a job at Saturday Night Live. Years later, she received an honorary doctorate of arts degree from the same university.
As a part of the effort to make Seinfeld less male-centric, the creators were on the lookout for a female actress to add to the cast. Louis-Dreyfus came out on the top of the competition among quite a few actresses. She gained widespread recognition and critical acclaim for her performance. Not to mention that throughout the 1990s, she won and was nominated for many TV awards.
Despite all this success, she seems to have forgotten scenes of herself on the show. During an interview on the Late Show with David Letterman in 2000, she was asked if she watches certain scenes and remembers the backstory. She said:
I don’t. I have a very bad memory, and I have no idea what happens in these episodes, so frankly, I find it rather pleasant to watch it because I can, you know, just… you’re like, ‘the first time.’ Yes, it’s an adorable little show.
The show indeed is adorable as are everyone who starred in it. However, it has to be said that Louis-Dreyfus not remembering a thing from it might be a little heartbreaking for some.
Julia Louis-Dreyfus Seems to Be Riding a Different Boat Than Some Other Actors
Louis-Dreyfus admitted that she has a bad memory which led to her having no recollection of Seinfeld although the show had ended only two years prior to the interview. However, there are actors like Scarlett Johansson (via GQ) and Willem Dafoe (via GQ) who remember lines from projects they had starred in years ago.
That being said, the Veep actress is not the only one who has trouble remembering parts of her work. Actors like Lisa Kudrow (via TODAY) and Gwyneth Paltrow (via Jimmy Kimmel Live) have also admitted to having trouble in remembering parts of their work. This, however, it does not necessarily mean that they do not value the work they have done.
