“I hope that I’m pleasing to him”: Harrison Ford Intimidated His Co-star While Shooting ‘Shrinking’
Harrison Ford recently intimidated one of his co-stars on the sets of Shrinking. Ford, who is playing the role of a meditative therapist in the sitcom, had a great influence on his co-star who is also one of the creators of the show. The actor was always impressed by Ford’s persona and he didn’t want anything to go wrong around him.
One of the creators and actors of the show, Jason Segel wanted the Star Wars fame’s approval after every performance while they were shooting. And we cannot help but gush over how cute that is.
Jason Segel was in awe of Harrison Ford
Jason Segel who plays Jimmy in the new Apple TV+ sitcom Shrinking expressed how intimidated he felt when he was around the senior actor, Harrison Ford. Segel mentioned that he had always idolized Ford and working with him was one of the biggest opportunities for him. Segel said,
“Well, to be totally honest, Harrison is a pretty intimidating present. This guy you’ve idolized forever shows up on set and you’re acting with him, your initial thought actually isn’t, “God, I’d love to hang out with this guy.”
The How I Met Your Mother actor explained how Ford would always treat him as a peer or contemporary. He wanted to be appreciated by Ford and he also said that the Morning Glory actor was very kind towards him throughout the filming of Shrinking. Segel said,
“It’s more, “I hope that I’m pleasing to him.” I felt awe. But one of the things he does that is really generous is that he tries to burst through that awe and make you feel like a peer and a contemporary. I think that my relationship to Harrison very much mirrored Jimmy and Paul’s relationship. I wanted his approval. I wanted him to tell me I was doing a good job, and he did. He was very kind to me.”
The American comedy-drama Shrinking was released on 27 January 2023. Bill Lawrence, Jason Segel, and Brett Goldstein are the creators of the sitcom.
Jason Segel looks forward to learning more about acting with every project
Segel talked about how he is trying to imbibe the learning process after he worked in How I Met Your Mother. The actor takes up every acting project as a learning experience for himself. He is trying to learn the new dynamics of new projects and how things have evolved since he was a part of How I Met Your Mother. Segel said,

“One of the things that I realized about myself, after How I Met Your Mother, is that part of the reason I’m doing this job is to learn. With each job, you get to take a little master class on whatever subject it is that you’re exploring, and not just the subject, but your relationship to it.”
He further added,
“It’s a really amazing gift of the job. One of the things I really enjoy is tackling new projects constantly knowing that streaming has changed the landscape so that you can do a project like this while you do other things, and not have to do 24 episodes a year. It was a whole different era of television when we did How I Met Your Mother.”
Segel’s character in Shrinking has been receiving a lot of love as many people found his character as Jimmy relatable in the sitcom. Audiences have also lauded his work as a creator of the show.
