The 60-year-old director once found his real-world character very similar to that of Mark Ruffalo’s character in the 2012’s The Avengers. A couple of months after the movie hit the theaters, Whedon realized that Hulk’s famous dialogue fit him too.

American superhero film, Marvel’s The Avengers, was released on April 27, 2012. The movie was directed by Whedon and featured exceptional actors like Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Robert Downey Jr, Tom Hiddleston, and Mark Ruffalo among others.

The movie had a scene where Hulk makes it clear to all that he is always angry. This dialogue gained a lot of hooting from the fans as everyone genuinely loved the aggression. However, what’s more interesting to note is how Whedon related to this dialogue a few months after the movie’s release.

Whedon once revealed that after about four months following the release of The Avengers, something happened to him and he immediately lost his cool. At that point, he remembered Hulk’s dialogue about always being angry and related to it. He told Rolling Stone:

And then about four months after the movie came out, something happened and I just lost my sh*t. I was like ‘Oh! It’s about me!’

Initially, the Justice League director thought that the dialogue felt psychologically true and somebody could be like that. Ironically, months later he realized that he was the one who was like the Green Goliath.

Playing the character of Hulk is probably the best decision by Mark Ruffalo in terms of exposure. He earned worldwide fame for playing the role. Initially, all the superhero fans loved Dr. Banner’s alter-ego because they loved his raw aggression. It won’t be wrong to say that in the starting days, his rage was what made the fans love him.

Ruffalo shared a very interesting detail regarding Hulk’s character development. The actor said that with the new movies post The Avengers, Hulk is evolving as a character. Ruffalo told Rolling Stone:

Now, Hulk is doing some acting. He is not just raging. He is transitioning in and out of Banner, and that has its own inner life to it.

Every Marvel fan must have realized this difference as of now. Hulk became more stable and mature with every new movie that featured him. That said, some fans might crave more of the vintage Hulk and his raw anger accompanying his brute strength.
