James Wan Addresses Amber Heard’s Comment About Her Screen-Time In Aquaman 2

During the defamation trial of Amber Heard and Johnny Depp, the Zombieland actor had spoken about her association with the James Wan-directed Aquaman And The Lost Kingdom. The actor plays the character of Mera, the love interest of Arthur Curry portrayed by Jason Momoa. During her interview with the media outlet People, she commented on the reduced screen presence of her character in the upcoming project. She claimed that it was a result of her negative public image. She had said-

“I was given a script and then given new versions of the script that had taken away scenes that had action in it, that depicted my character and another character — without giving any spoilers away — two characters fighting with one another, and they basically took a bunch out of my role. They just removed a bunch out.”

Recently, the Aquaman director clarified that the sequel was written with a standalone perspective for Arthur. During an interview with Entertainment Weekly, he addressed Amber Heard’s remark on her screen presence. He said-

“I always pitched this to everyone from the get-go. The first Aquaman was Arthur and Mera’s journey. The second movie was always going to be Arthur and Orm. So, the first was a romance action-adventure movie, the second one was a bromance action-adventure movie. We’ll leave it at that.”
