Ryan Gosling On His Character In Blade Runner 2049
The 2017 released sci-fi drama Blade Runner 2049, is one of the best projects of Ryan Gosling. The spell-binding cinematography was praised by the critics and the audience. During an interview with the entertainment outlet Cinemablend, the La La Land actor spoke about the movie and mentioned what drew him towards the character of K. He said-
“I thought it was such a compelling character. As massive as the world is, as massive as this film is, interesting as it is conceptually, there are these very intimate, personal, emotional storylines as well. So it’s operating on this kind of amazing scale, and this character, there’s such a complicated journey that he goes on.”
He further mentioned-
“And it’s just amazing to me that the film could honor the original in the way that it did, and the storylines, and the questions, and the themes, and yet still accommodate this very different character and story that felt totally enmeshed in the DNA of the original. And yet it still felt original in its own right.”
On being asked about his experience working with Harrison Ford, Ryan Gosling said-
He arrived in a very cinematic way. We heard that Harrison had landed. We heard that Harrison was coming to set. We heard that Harrison had arrived. It was very darkly lit. You could only distinguish people by their silhouette. Suddenly, this very distinctive silhouette appeared. He stepped into the light and looked at me like I was an eight-year-old kid who just broke his window, and then immediately put us at ease. He’s the best collaborator you could ever ask for, and he with him the experience and the intent of making something great. We all felt that, and we felt like we could really begin to do that.
As Ridley Scott could never be an active member of Blade Runner 2049, the director was regretful of not being able to direct his own brainchild. Ryan Gosling earned critical acclaim for the sci-fi drama too.
Blade Runner 2049 is available on Amazon Prime.
