‘I still struggle to be open about how much I love women’: Amber Heard’s Ex Cara Delevingne Said Past Relationship Has Given Her Intimacy Issues, Can’t Openly Love Women As Much As She Loves Men
British actress and model Cara Delevingne revealed the struggles she faces due to her sexuality in her new six-part series, Planet Sex. The model talked about facing homophobia and how she faced difficulties before coming out as bisexual in 2015. A lot of people don’t know that Cara Delevingne’s childhood was quite stressful as she grew up in an “old-fashioned, repressed English family.” The model was afraid that her parents won’t accept her if she revealed her sexuality to them and that’s why she relied on drugs to battle depressive thoughts. The model revealed in 2018 that she is genderfluid and queer.
Cara Delevingne struggles to be open with women
On the second episode of Planet Sex, model Cara Delevingne talked about a very personal journey into exploring her own sexuality. She said,
“I’m on a very personal journey into my own sexuality. You may or may not know I have had relationships with both men and women. But I still struggle with being open, really open, about just how much I love women.”
The model came out as bisexual in 2015 and announced in 2018 that she is genderfluid. She also revealed that she “likes having s*x with men, but does not date them.”
The model said she does not like labels
Cara Delevingne then explained that she doesn’t like “labels” for her sexuality. She also feels like she hasn’t been able to live a “queer” life because of her “internalized shame.” She said,
“I’ve always believed in the no labels thing, but have then spent a lot of time saying, ‘I’m bis*xual, I’m pans*xual’. I’m queer, I 100% can tell you I’m queer, I don’t know what else I can say other than that.”
The Paper Town actress added that she has not been able to live a queer life because of internalized shame, and homophobia. Also added that she also has a lot of queer friends now.
Cara Delvingne grew up in an old-fashioned family
Earlier this year, the model told HarperBazaar that she comes from an “upper-class family.” She attended a boarding school in Bedales in Hampshire that cost £13,000 a term. However, her wealthy upbringing didn’t mean everything was easy for her. She stated that her childhood was “pretty sad.” Her mother, Pandora Delevingne battled heroin addiction and suffered from severe mental health problems when the model was young.
In the interview, she also explained that she was afraid to talk about her sexuality with her parents.
“I didn’t want to upset my family. I was deeply unhappy and depressed. When you don’t accept a part of yourself or love yourself, it’s like you’re not there, almost.“
Recently, her fans were concerned about her mental health as she was spotted acting strange at the Van Nuys Airport in Los Angeles. Rumors claimed that the model was fighting some sort of addiction and all fingers pointed at Amber Heard as she hosted parties that had a lot of alcohol and the consumption of drugs was quite common. According to sources, Amber Heard may have fueled her addiction. Thankfully, the actress looks to be doing much better now.
