“I think I could bring something really dynamic”: David Dastmalchian Can Bring His Hidden Talent to One Piece that Hollywood Forced Away for So Long
The One Piece live-action series by Netflix certainly exceeded all expectations making it one of the most successful anime live adaptations ever to come out. With the success that the first season had, fans are eagerly waiting for the second season to air.
Amongst the eager anticipation, Netflix has released some of the cast for the new season of the One Piece live-action. And among those, we got to know that David Dastmalch, the star of Late Night with the Devil, will be playing the character of Mr. 3 from the Baroque Works. Here is what Dastmalch had to say about his new role in the One Piece franchise.
David Dastmalchian gets ready to step out of Hollywood’s Shadow to the Grand Line
David Dastmalchian has made quite a name for himself in Hollywood, acting in major blockbuster movies. His most notable works being in movies such as The Suicide Squad, Oppenheimer, The Dark Knight, and his most recent hit horror movie, Late Night with the Devil. One thing that Dastmalchian has proven throughout his years in acting is his range as an actor.
Now, with his role as Mr.3 in the highly anticipated second season of the One Piece live-action series. During a recent interview, Dastmalchian made a statement claiming that his upcoming project will allow him to go all out with his skills, especially given that it will be completely different from his work with Western entertainment.

During the interview, Dastmalchian said;
“I don’t feel like I’ve had enough opportunities to get to explore the inspiration that I take from that style of both storytelling and performance because as we know, it’s so different than what we’re generally provided and Western entertainment… I really believe there are a number of anime adaptation adaptations that haven’t yet occurred or that are maybe occurring soon.”
“I really feel like if I had the opportunity to play in that space, I think I could bring something really dynamic and fun to it’s a challenge that I would love to live up to because as you guys know, just the way facial reactions are generally expressed, there’s an extreme there’s an extremity to the motion.”
Given that the 48-year-old actor is a big anime fan, it will certainly be interesting to see him be a part of Mr.3. However the rest of the cast revealed for the second season of One Piece live-action is just as talented.
All of the new cast revealed for Season two of One Piece live-action
As we all know, David Dastmalchian, from Late Night with the Devil will play Mr. 3. The rest of the Baroque Works cast that was revealed includes Jazzara Jaslyn from Lioness playing Miss Valentine, Camrus Johnson from Batwoman playing Mr. 5 and Zimbabwean actor, Daniel Lasker playing Mr.9.
Callum Kerr from Monarch and Julia Rehwald from Fear Street will play the beloved Marines, Smoker and Tashigi. Ty Keogh from Dominion will play Dalton and Rob Colletti from The Many Saints of Newark will play Wapol.
