On Sunday, the Love Me Like You Do singer spoke to the Daily Mail about the unfounded cheating rumors and “a lot of traumas” she had been through.
The singer of the song Anything Could Happen first sparked rumors that she and Ed Sheeran were dating in 2013. She and former One Direction hunk Niall Horan were rumored to have held a secret stay in the same hotel Sheeran was staying in, even on the same floor, which later put a strain on their relationship.
The rumors started to circulate after Sheeran’s 2014 hit song Don’t, which included the lyrics “But you didn’t need to take him to bed, that’s all, and I never saw him as a threat (Get lost), until you disappeared with him to have s*x, of course,” gave rise to them.
Ellie Goulding has now given it a ‘full stop’ and opened up about the trauma she went through because of the rumors that she had an affair with Horan while cheating on Sheeran.
The 36-year-old singer revealed to Daily Mail on Sunday how the false cheating rumors affected her, although she had never even dated the Shape of You musician. “It’s fascinating how many people are interested in that.” She told the outlet that it occurred nine years ago.
“You know, completely honestly, it caused me a lot of traumas, actually. I was made to feel like a terrible person, and I really struggled with that because I know I’m not.”

Goulding recently uploaded a video to her TikTok account of her dancing along to Harry Styles’s As It Was while wearing a black jumpsuit. “Can’t believe u cheated on Ed with Niall,” a TikTok user commented in the comments section. “But slay fr (for real).”
The English songstress responded with “False!!!!!” to dismiss the assertion. According to her admission to Daily Mail, “I was really drunk when I wrote that.”
She Believes The Incident ‘Negatively Impacted Her Career’
