“I was really down for whatever”: Rachel McAdams’ Knew her Cameo in the Mean Girls Musical Would Not be an Easy Task to Pull off
Fetch is finally happening! The mean girls are finally coming back with a range of new faces, and some changes. This includes the obvious absence of the fan-favorite Rachel McAdams, who previously played the role of Regina George, the leader of the controversial group, The Plastics.
This time, Mean Girls is returning as a musical film, featuring a range of talented actors. While the real Queen Bee a.k.a Rachel McAdams was set to film a cameo for the upcoming Mean Girls, she revealed the task proved too difficult for her. However, the actress expressed excitement about what the upcoming musical project will allow fans to experience.
Rachel McAdams Shared Filming a Cameo For Mean Girls Musical Film Was Tough
Everyone knows nothing is impossible for Regina Geoge when it comes to her fashion. However, there’s one significant challenge that Rachel McAdams, who played the leader of The Plastics in Mean Girls, faced while filming the cameo in the upcoming musical film Mean Girls. During an interview with Variety, McAdams shared that fans almost got the chance to see her in a cameo and added:
“Tina and I sort of dabbled with a few ideas, but it was tough to make it all work in the end. I was really down for whatever she wanted to do. I think the direction it went in will be fantastic and I cannot wait to see it.”
Well, even if we might not be able to witness the original Queen Bee, the new faces are undeniably exciting. What’s even more intriguing is that the film promises humor, fun, betrayal, friendship, and of course, the famous Burn Book!
There was also a commercial earlier this November for Means Girls, in which the original movie’s cast members appeared excluding the Game Night star. Rachel McAdams explained her absence during the same interview by claiming she had never done a commercial and was unaware of the cast members going there. The actress also mentioned her love for Mean Girls and will always want to be a part of its reunion.
When Will Mean Girls Musical Film Release?
The 2004 original Mean Girls became a cultural phenomenon, even resulting in a musical adaptation. The upcoming film will feature Reneé Rapp who portrays Betty Brant in Spider-Man films as Regina George the Queen Bee, Angourie Rice is set to play Cady Heron, Auliʻi Cravalho as Janis ‘Imi’ike, and other acclaimed actors.
The plot of this upcoming film remains the same as the original, following teen Cady Heron, who arrives at an American high school for the first time. The teenager experiences an entirely different atmosphere, as she was raised in South Africa. Heron then befriends the outcasts and ends up plotting against Regina Geoge.
Initially announced as a Paramount+ original movie, it was confirmed that Mean Girls will now have a theatrical release on January 12, 2024
